Best - the flexibility of being able to work where or when suits me.
Worst - clients who don't pay on time.
What about you?

This year, in lieu of Christmas cards and gifts for my lovely clients I have made a donation to Hands on Hand out UK.

This charity provides London's homeless with food, drink, clothing and toiletries, as well as human interaction.

In addition to this I have also donated 24 items of food to our local food bank, The Need Project; a Reverse Advent Calendar of foods that I hope will help local families.

It's been a busy year and I'm very grateful for the support of my loyal clients and look forward to working with you all in 2019.

Don't focus on the numbers

Social media really is a marathon and not a sprint.

If your Instagram account only has 300 followers but the accounts you follow have 3,000, and you're getting frustrated and impatient, the worst thing you can do is buy followers.

These followers will not be interested in what you do. They're undoubtedly fake accounts, or worse!

The best way will always be creating a thoughtful strategy, setting measurable goals, sharing great content, and engaging your audience... but it takes time.

My website is well overdue a refresh, but on reading this article about how colour affects how people perceive your business, it looks like it's going to remain blue.

What colour describes you and your business?

Happy Monday!

I spent Saturday at a client's event, live posting and live video. Now I need to take a look at the stats to see how it worked out.

Do you measure what you're doing on social media to make sure it's working for you?

If you run any Facebook groups, have a look at your group cover image as the dimensions look as though they've been changed overnight, and the right hand side has been chopped off. 820 x 430px appears to be working OK.

I don't know if I need to cringe here or not, but I do use the odd smiley face in work emails. As I run my own business I want to be me, and I don't want to conform to someone else's idea of professional - I am professional, but I don't wear suits any more and I don't feel the need to be super formal.

If people employ me, they need to know who I am.

I think smileys are a really simple way to soften messages that could be misunderstood. I wouldn't dream of using multiple emojis, but smiley faces? Yep, I think the odd one here or there can enhance the written word.

What do you think?

Interesting article if you're using video for your Facebook marketing.
