On 8 March '80 years ago dying Hachiko, the most loyal dog.
Hachiko(Breed@Akita Inu)the dog - better known as one of the most loyal pups in Japanese history - is the focus of a sweet new statue at the Univeristy of Tokyo.
Now Hachiko, forever reunited with his human Hidesaburo Ueno(Richard Gere plays the role in the movie) by new statue in his honor At University Of Tokyo
Hachiko's loyalty touched the hearts of animal-lovers across the nation in the early 1900s when he devotedly waited at Japan's Shibuya Station for his human, Ueno, to come home from work every day as a professor at the University of Tokyo.
One day in May 1925, Ueno never returned home because he suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage while working.
This year marks the Ueno’s 90th death anniversary, and Hackiho’s 80th. And to immortalize their greatest friendship and give tribute to the contributions of Ueno to University of Tokyo’s agriculture department, the statue was put up. According to reports,an online charity drive has yielded around half of the estimated 10 million yen (about US$98,000) to make the project possible.
Although they were never reunited in life, now they'll be forever reunited in statue.
