While visiting the Farmer’s Market in San Francisco, I was charmed by this scene of birds enjoying the fountain there. San Francisco is one of my favorite cities and I love to photograph its many beautiful places. It was a sunny day in spring and it was as though the birds shared a celebratory mood. With its many shades of blue, the photo creates a peaceful feeling.

I just added new #art to Saatchi online, Cobb Hall, Chicago
#UChicago #cityscape
Cobb Hall at the University of Chicago was designed by architect Henry Ives Cobb, and is the oldest building on campus. Cobb modeled his designs after the Gothic style of architecture at Oxford in England. I am an architect, as well as an artist, and I used my architectural skills to create a realistic portrayal of this elegant building that represents its proportions and depth. When I paint the buildings on the UChicago quads, I like to contrast the traditional Gothic buildings with the youth and vitality of the students. The solid, gray buildings surrounding the Main Quadrangle symbolize the stable framework and traditions of the university. The students are portrayed in bright red, yellow and blue; these primary colors suggest the life and vibrant diversity of the ever-changing student population. Viewing the painting conveys an upbeat and positive mood. “Cobb Hall, UChicago” was recently displayed in a regional, juried exhibit at the Glessner House Museum, which is a National Historic Landmark in Chicago.

My photo, Lift Bridges Meet Chicago Skyway, is now at +Artfinder and is part of my series Steel Giants Of The Heartland. The series celebrates the industrial area around 95th Street and the Calumet River, with its bridges, electrical towers, and train tracks. They are powerful icons of a recent era, an era of boundless dynamic energy. These outsized icons now loom here in this gigantic, eerie, outdoor museum. I was drawn to the steel-laced, elevated Skyway bridge that provides a unifying presence running throughout many of my photographs.

SOLD my photo of Hull Court Gate at UChicago to a new collector in NY, thanks to Artfinder More of these limited edition photos from this limited edition are available at Artfinder.
https://www.artfinder.com/product/hull-court-gate/

This digitally altered photograph features Hull Court Gate at the University of Chicago. The gate frames the entry to Hull Court garden, which was planned by landscape architect John C. Olmsted. It’s in my series: Digital Gothic: University of Chicago Cityscapes, which includes architectural details of the Gothic Revival architecture on the Main Quadrangle at UChicago campus. This artwork was also on view at GACI gallery in Chicago, in a curated group exhibit earlier this year.
