Sleep soundly knowing our government is busy protecting those million dollar salaries of professional sports - for free! Well, unless you count that were paying for it with our taxes, but who counts that?

So I just read about this tip for when you need to give out your email address to receive some kind of free offer (sometimes you can get free software if you provide your email address). The problem is, then they send spam. So do this:

with gmail (may work with others, don't use them tho), is the use of periods. if your normal email address is johndoe@gmail.com, then use john.doe@gmail.com when signing up for things that may start spamming you. Then set up a filter in your gmail to send anything that is addressed to john.doe@gmail.com into a junk folder, or simply delete so you'd never see it. That's what I've done and has made life very pleasant.

Gmail ignores periods, so the mail will still come. But you can set up a filter to remove any mail using periods.

If you can't take them in the store, don't take them.
Dogs And Cats Can Die When Left In Hot Parked Cars

Never leave dogs or cats locked inside hot, parked cars in summer.

A parked car can act like an oven when the temperature is at 30 C (86 F). If it's 86 and sunny outside, parking the car in the sun will raise the temperature inside the car in 10 minutes to 37 C (100 F). In 30 minutes the car's temperature will rise to 48.8 C (120 F). It's virtually an oven at that point; you could bake cookies on your dashboard. Dogs and cats are already wearing fur coats; they will die if left in that environment. Do not leave your baby inside your car either. The same rules apply.

Consider instead leaving your pets at home. If you can't take them inside on a trip, don't take them with you. Reshare for safety and awareness.

Wish the LA Times would have this.

This goes for anything "Green" too. We like to deceive ourselves. Hide it from us so we don't have to think about it. Just ask the children who made your cool phone.
