[Warning! RANT] - Chrome OS and e-id card reader support

Tax return season is in full swing and that means in Belgium that close to 3 mio tax returns will be filled out online and authenticated with mandatory e-id cards but.. not by Chrome OS users because not supported.

Also local communities, libraries, employment agencies and banks use the e-id cards not only for authentication, but also to avoid retyping personal information by simply reading the public information on the e-id card.

"Ah, but Belgium is too small for Google to be interested in supporting this e-id cards"

Think again. According to Wikipedia countries currently issuing government-issued EICs include Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Mexico, Morocco, Pakistan, Portugal, Romania, Estonia, Latvia, Spain, Slovakia, Malta, and Mauritius. Countries currently accepting bank-issued EICs for identification towards authorities (also known as Bankid) include Norway and Sweden.

So for the umptieth time someone recently filed a feature request to include e-id support that received the status "This issue has already been moved once and is lower than Priority 1,therefore removing mstone.". Or plainly put, just f* off.

So please star this feature request to give this a higher priority:

This new feature builds on the strengths of G+. Good strategy I think.

Introducing Google+ Collections, a new way to group your posts by topic

Our happiest Google+ users are those who connect with others around shared interests and passions. So we set out to give people a place to express the things they love. Today, we’re announcing Google+ Collections, a new way to group your posts by topic.

Every collection is a focused set of posts on a particular topic, providing an easy way for you to organize all the things you’re into. Each collection can be shared publicly, privately, or with a custom set of people. Once you create your first collection, your profile will display a new tab where other people can find and follow your collections.

Posts in collections you follow will appear in your Home stream, with a link to easily jump right into the collection so you can get to similar content from that author. Collections give you a great way to find more of the stuff you love from the people you follow.

Collections is available on Android and the web, and iOS is coming later. For Android users, make sure to update your Google+ app to get access to Collections.

For inspiration on interesting topics, check out our Featured Collections page here: g.co/collections

Create your collections today and share what you love.

Should not miss this one when visiting the Cevennes. You can combine the trip from Anduze to Saint Jean du Gard with a visit to the Aquarium in Saint Jean du Gard and/or on the way back visit La Bambouseraie. All is well-organized, crowdy but not over commercialized. Employees are helpfull and friendly, clearly a committed team. tip 1: if you want to enjoy the true flavor of steam and burned coal: pick the first wagons behind the locomotive. However, expect to get some black on your face! tip 2: you can take your own lunch and picknick tables are available free of charge, even without consumption.
