I'm telling you guys right now, if you aren't watching Agent Carter you are seriously missing out. The last episode was straight-up chilling, and I don't say that lightly.

The scene....

SPOILERS

with Dottie monkey-swinging/gamboling down the entire staircase was worth the entire season. That actress is a true gem - she can come across so wholesome and gee-willickers, but then turn to cray-cray in a pico-second, although the scary Russian dirge that is her leitmotif helps.

Dude. Liz and I found this thing on her porch and CANNOT figure out what the hell it is. Never saw anything like it. Any ideas? And more importantly, does it sting??

(This is an extreme closeup. It's actually tee-tiny.)

According to QI, the best place in the world to discover new species of insect is...your own backyard (or basically any patch of dirt anywhere).  So you might have done that?

The acronym has evolved from its literal meaning. I was using it in the sense of "I feel that this very obviously represents myself".

Best quote:

"And now, in 2014, women have been forced into hiding – for voicing an opinion about videogames. That’s a sentence that should only ever appear in the opening chapter of an implausible dystopian sci-fi novel, moments before you toss it in the bin.

There seems to be a small yet vocal core of maniacs bafflingly resistant to the notion that women should have any say in the games industry at all. Even recent statistics indicating that female players now outnumber men can’t sway them, thanks to a lazy assumption that most of those women are playing Candy Crush or other, equally non-taxing “casual games” apparently un worthy of being called “games” at all. I don’t think that’s true, and even if it were, I wouldn’t blame women for voluntarily choosing to play something soothing and non-threatening in their free time, since they spend so much of the rest of their time being forced to play a terrifying survival horror MMORPG colloquially known as “The Internet”. Women are the hardest hardcore gamers there are, by miles.”
It’s a stealth adventure with nowhere to hide and hundreds of respawning enemies waiting to attack you the moment you stand out in any way

This is not "a few hateful people". It's an organized campaign of harrassment and terrorism aimed specifically at people like me. The only difference between me and Anita Sarkeesian is that she critiques video games instead of epic fantasy novels. That is what's depressing and scary.

And me refusing to watch one particular video is hardly proof that I am "refusing to study both sides". The fact of the matter is, whether some gamergaters' concerns about "journalisitc integrity" are legit or not is a moot point, because the water has been so thoroughly poisoned by this point that the only sensible thing to do is get out of the pool. Or, to put it another way, I don't care how good your potato salad is; once someone's taken a dump in it, I'm just not going to eat it, and I'm not sorry about it either.

This is the last I have to say on the subject. Please respect that and move on.

I've finally gotten around to watching it.  I pretty much agree, it certainly wasn't good, but under the constraints they had, it was much better than it could have been.

That was really good until the final two paragraphs, when it became almost transcendent. Well played, Ms. Ortberg, well played.
