Red Hat engineers ... will from now on play a much more direct role in helping shape the future of 3D Graphics standards.
So Red Hat are now formally a member of the Khronos Groups who many of probably know as the shepherds of the OpenGL standard. We haven't gotten all the little bits sorted yet, like getting our logo on the Khronos website, but our engineers are signing up for the various Khronos working groups ...

Now that people can see a recommended route directly on the OSM homepage, they have an incentive to quickly pop in and fix little issues like that. The end effect will be OSM’s data going up one more level in terms of its quality for routing.
Good news for OpenStreetMap: the main website now has A-to-B routing (directions) built in to the homepage! This will be huge for the OSM project. Kudos to Richard Fairhurst and everyone who helped get this up and running. osm-routing. You might be thinking, “Why would this be huge?

It represents the fourth graphics API aiming to offer this kind of control and the performance gains that come with it. AMD's Mantle, Microsoft's DirectX 12, and Apple's Metal were all developed with similar goals in mind. However, these are all platform limited in one way or another; Mantle only works with AMD GPUs, DirectX 12 only works in Windows, and Metal only works in iOS. Vulkan will span both GPU and operating system vendors, continuing in the footsteps of the cross-platform, vendor-neutral OpenGL before it.
Coming later this year, the new API promises efficiency and performance.

Why is it okay for an ambitious lawyer to say, “I just want to be a lawyer” and not for an ambitious programmer to say, “I just want to be a programmer?”

Great meal. Advised by our hotel staff. Although they didn't have porcini mushrooms which I thought were in season. That removed many menu items. Hostess was a bit pushy about having one hour to eat because we didn't have a reservation.

Unique presentation of some dishes. Food came very fast. Chose to exit quickly when all the smokers lit up in the enclosed patio at the end of the meal.
