Think you know what Fat Shaming is? NOT! . Read about the unique journey of my husband (and me!) with his best college friend to persuade the FDA that...

Stem cells from your own autologous fat are not a drug

The beginning....

Back in 2009, we had blocked out several days to attend our National conference (ASPS, American Society of Plastic Surgeons), but as the time approached we both decided that we had done that dog and pony show too many times. Afraid to be faced with the same slides, only different wives (haha)..............we needed more stimulation. Something earth shattering. So...

As fate would have it, the World Stem Cell Conference was being held in Baltimore that same week. So, instead of packing our bags, we skipped out of the ASPS meeting and drove 10 minutes downtown to the World Stem Cell Conference. In one of the opening sessions, a prominent researcher, Doris Taylor, PhD, projected a white matrix image of a heart on the large auditorium screen. It was devoid of any muscle and nerve fibers and looked like a white pearly grocery bag. Dr. Taylor pressed a time lapse button and as stem cells mixed with red blood cells pumped through the white matrix, the heart began to beat!. We were electrified and energized. It was spectacular ...."it was a resurrection".

THIS was the beginning of the adventure.....and we have never turned back....as our Facility now participates in two registered Clinical Trials.

ICYMI, here is the best blow by blow analysis of THE video of the year....the kids who hijacked the BBC interview.

Got to love the moment #2 blows in via the walker. Can't get enough of this ...laugh harder every time I see it!

SWI : Semantic Web Identity

Bumped into this paper this morning. It's a 202 page dissertation (downloadable) about why some academic organizations are not getting Knowledge Graph Cards. Didn't read yet, but I got the warm and fuzzies for Freebase and the adreneline rush to learn Wikidata...

This study hypothesizes that the poor state of SWI is in part the result of a failure by these organizations to populate appropriate Linked Open Data (LOD) and proprietary Semantic Web knowledge bases.

Techapella = the concert of Silicon Valley a cappella's

This is happening tonight! So proud that my son, +Rico Rodriguez has been a part of Techapella since inception--in his first concert with Googapella 4 years ago, to his more recent jump to LinkedIn (#Intune) last year.

2016 Techapella concert includes a cappella groups from LNKD (Intune), GOOG (#googapella) , TWTR (songbirds), FB (the vocal network) , and other private unicorns such as Pinterest, Dropbox, and Square.

Love to hear all of them sing! Much joy!

p.s. the Intune t-shirt blinks ....and I have one!

So this is why +Vic Gundotra left G+!  He is building heart monitoring sensors for smartphones and the Apple Watch. Unlike those startups who think their unicorn is too good for FDA oversight (Theranos),   Gundotra's product has been in the FDA regulatory pathway for approval.  *THIS is why it ain't over for AAPL*.

When your iwatch becomes a 24 hour walking EKG...things are going to get very interesting for AAPL.  The Apple Watch may just be the trojan horse of the health care revolution.  Imagine going for your check up and showing your physician a 6 month history of heart patterns.
