The British press is ripping itself apart about advertiser influence. But it goes deeper, as this article presents, British journalism is a closed shop cheer squad for the rich.

Australia "has the highest per capita rooftop solar penetration of any country, the best solar resources, and the most expensive delivery system of ageing centralised fossil fuels, thanks to its massive over-investment in a big, dumb grid."

So climate change doesn't count politically? Think again. #auspol

Tony Abbott is clearly out of touch with the majority of Australians. He would appear to be more comfortable living in a fantasy medieval world of knights and dames.

He is a worry. Note that the source is not some left-wing rag...it's The Australian which has been one of the biggest boosters for Abbott.
TONY Abbott suggested a unilateral invasion of Iraq, with 3500 Australian ground troops to confront the Islamic State terrorist group.

A long time coming but the advanced bolt-on, electric drive for bicycles will be available by the middle of next year for about $1000. Pretty special specs.
The Copenhagen Wheel transforms your bicycle into a smart electric hybrid, quickly and easily. The Wheel learns how you pedal and integrates seamlessly with your motion, multiplying your pedal power by 3x–10x. It makes hills feel flat and distances shrink, so you can cycle just about anywhere.

Fact check by New York Times calls out Abbott claims about Aust debt.
Last year was a banner year for falsehoods from presidents, prime ministers and pundits.

Why energy-efficiency may not work.
In their books "Freakonomics," "SuperFreakonomics," and "Think Like a Freak," Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner explore "the hidden side of everything," telling stories about cheating schoolteachers and eating champions while teaching us all to think a bit more creatively, rationally, and productively. The Freakonomics Radio podcast, hosted by Dubner, carries on that tradition with weekly episodes. Prepare to be enlightened, engaged, perha...

finest complement I can give to a cafe is that it is consistent. the second is that it is friendly and comfortable: that's Gypsy.

Yes it has French style, yes, it is a pleasant busy boulevard location and yes it has cheerful service...but no, the food is mean, overseasoned and shockingly overpriced.

Probably one of the most pleasant outlooks of any cafe on the islands picking up the light north-easters across the bay and just the right amount of sunlight in both winter and summer. Cheerful and reasonably quick service even when quite busy. Coffee always better than average because they have all the right procedures in place. Taken over in the late winter of 2014 by well known local couple with a reputation for good business sense--and fun with a program of local musicians providing entertainment.

Detail counts. Service was special even though all I had time for was a cup of coffee. Did leave with two of their cakes though...too good to miss out on.

No matter how good a burger, queuing, crowding, poor service and no space to sit will eventually mean competitors rise. That is what is happening now in Queenstown: be sensible, look elsewhere.

Rambling complex catering for a range of fitness pursuits. Good advice for a generally cheerful staff. Classes include boxing, aerobics, aerobics,,, ah. You know thé rest of the list... Equipment mostly new and well maintained. Membership fees arena competitive. And don't forget the swimming pools.
