Most of the photos are now up from my autumn get-away. Six days in Denali National Park and one side trip to Granite Tors in the Chena River State Recreation Area. I had planned for a day or two at Mt. Prindle too but had forgotten how much I love Denali this time of year and couldn't pull myself away.

Taken from the Thorofare Ridge. Looking over the Thorofare River, red alpine tundra with a kettle pond nested up high, and the debris and vegetation covered Muldrow Glacier and, of course, Denali hovering high above all of it.

Yesterday was my last day in Denali National Park for the "fall" season. I took the shuttle to Eielson in the fog and rain for the four and a half hour drive. I was set to hike the Thorofare Ridge (I got snowed out here just one week earlier). I set out up the Alpine Trail and the clouds started to split over the mountains to my east.

When I got to the top the sky to the west started to open and I got a few glimpses of the mountain between the clouds. The scenery was otherworldly and stopped me in my tracks. Literally, it was difficult to move because I didn't want to go anywhere. I stayed in one spot on the ridge for an hour and then the sky cleared completely.

I've got 7 days worth of photos to go through now that I'm back home. Check back to the link above for updates over the next week or so as I get photos uploaded!

I had the coolest hiking experience yesterday at Granite Tors (took a break from Denali National Park). All alone on this rainy day for a 15-mile hike, I walked through the clouds in this fall foliage-filled wonderland! Every once in a while giant shadows would start to emerge in the fog before materializing as monstrous towers of granite. Now I'm trying to quickly dry everything out so I can get back to the park!

I've been slowly getting a few photos on my website at the link below from the last week, but I still have 3 days left so most will wait until after the weekend!

A test post (link below) - A Guide to Hiking in Alaska. I have over 50 posts in the works now, probably 10 will be posted by fall 2018. Best ways to help me with this project are to purchase prints, follow and share on social media, and give me feedback! I'm trying to cover the whole state of Alaska.
