I really wish this place was closer to home.

Bad food, worse service.

I went in to get my oil changed on Friday, and was attended to quickly. Oil changes come with a tire rotation, but on this day, their racks were occupied. The gentlemen said I could come back the next day, and they would do the rotation then. I came back on Saturday, and they pulled my car in right away. After a few minutes, the mechanic brought a piece to the attendant in the waiting room, then the attendant came to me and explained that they had broken a stud off of my wheel hub. (That's the bolt that comes out of the wheel hub that the lug nuts attach to so the wheel doesn't fall off.) They blamed the last place that worked on my car. After waiting two hours for the part to arrive and get installed, they charged me to put a new one on. I didn't fight it because it was less than $50, and they weren't going to give me my car until I paid. Aside from this, they were very nice, and the service was prompt, it's just too bad that they're just another shady auto shop. Interestingly, one of the 5 star reviews here is from Fahad, the man with whom I was dealing.

I pulled up just before closing with my TPMS light on, hoping to have my air pressure checked, and TPMS light diagnosed. The manager came out, did the test, and found a screw in my tire. He asked me if I had time to have it fixed, and I asked him if there was enough time before closing to fix it. He pulled out his business card, handed it to me, and said, "if they tell you they don't have time, show them this" They got me all fixed up, and rolling in less than half an hour, and didn't charge me a penny. I bought the tires online (not their web site), and don't know why they didn't charge me, but I know I'll be buying tires from ATC in the future after receiving this level of service.

Whenever I'm in Alameda, I make it a point to grab a club sandwich from Sandwich Board. The ingredients are always fresh and delicious, and they have a good selection of interesting sodas.

The service is terrible. They usually do the minimum required to change your oil, then check off a bunch of services they didn't perform. The management and staff has changed several times in the past few years, but the service still stinks. I called asking about wait times, and the person answering the phone said, "Saturday is our busiest day, we probably can't fit you in." As I drive by five minutes later, the parking lot was empty, along with all the bays. I needed my oil changed, and Midas was too busy, so I went in. They did an OK job, but charged my extra for "extra oil" (charged me for 4.5 gallons at the 5 gallon and under price, then .5 gallons at the over 5 price). There are plenty of better options out there.
