Hi Vaardhane, I’m thrilled you enjoyed my poem. I read your poems. Here are some of your words that spoke loud and true to me:

Take out your sword,
and Prepare for war,
With your greatest enemy,
Your inner Coward.

Be well! LBB.

Joss Whedon: “The word [‘feminist’] is problematic for me because there’s another word that we’re missing. Words have failed us. And I’d like to use, as an example, race. In the public discourse, there’s one word to deal with race: ‘racism.’ That is the word. And it implies something very important. It implies something that we are passed. When you say ‘racist,’ you are saying, ‘That is a negative thing. That is a line that we have crossed. Anything on the other side of that line is shameful, is on the wrong side of history.’ And that is a line that we crossed, in terms of gender, but we don’t have the word for it. People are confronted by the word ‘feminist,’ and it stops them.” (05:23.)

Okay, I’m with you.

Joss Whedon: “Being on the wrong side of history, in terms of the oppression of women, is being on the whole [wrong side] of history.” (6:27.)

I couldn't agree more.

Joss Whedon: “If you’re someone who genuinely believes that women don’t deserve as much as men, you’re like the plague.” (06:55.)

I agree.

Joss Whedon: “There’s no fuzzy middle ground. You either believe that women are people or you don’t. It’s that simple.” (08:15.)

Absolutely true.

Joss Whedon: “You don’t have to hate someone to destroy them. You just have to not get it.” (09:20.)

Sadly, true too.

Joss Whedon: “My pitch is this word. ‘Genderist.’ I would like this word to be become the new ‘racist.’ I would like a word that says, ‘There was a shameful past before we realized that all people were created equal, and we are past that. And every evolved human being who is intelligent and educated and compassionate is past that.’ And to say, ‘I don’t believe that,’ is unacceptable.” (10:57.)

I couldn't agree more.

Thank you Joss, you’re the way forward.
LBB.

In my twenties, I worried about all of my (analog) photos burning up in a house fire. So I spent waaaaay too many hours digitizing my photos. In my forties, I’m now worried about one of my online accounts being hacked into and all my (digital) photos being viewed by strangers. Ahhh, digital world problems . . .

Excerpt: "In October 2013, PEN partnered with independent researchers at the FDR Group to conduct a survey of over 520 American writers to better understand the specific ways in which awareness of far-reaching surveillance programs influences writers’ thinking, research, and writing. The results of this survey—the beginning of a broader investigation into the harms of surveillance—substantiate PEN’s concerns: writers are not only overwhelmingly worried about government surveillance, but are engaging in self-censorship as a result."

For the past few weeks, I've been writing for a secret eBay project. Today, after we launched, I was thrilled to learn that one of my pieces was right up the top of eBay's home page. The piece is about Truman Capote's Black and White Ball (http://bit.ly/TrumanCapoteEbay). I've also written about hipsters, space exploration, family rooms, bicycle gear, Formula One, Dean Martin, male fragrances, and many other topics. It's all happening.
