Great article by edX CEO Anant Agarwal about the MOOC learners of today... Diverse, active, curious, & engaged. What do you think?
The fantastic thing about MOOCs is that anyone can join any MOOC they want and can participate as much, or as little, as they want. I've been part of a Deeper Learning MOOC since Jan which focuses on engaging youth. While most of the participants have been adults and educators, some were youth. http://dlmooc.deeper-learning.org/ Since Learning by Giving is focusing on more effective philanthropy I feel participants will need to reach out and experience some of these other MOOCs before they will grasp the full potential. As that happens a few more donors may support MOOCS that focus on specific economic, environmental, education and/or social issues and all participants are learning more of what they can do to help solutions emerge in more places. Some will volunteer time and talent. Others will offer dollars. Many will do both.
