It was an honour to commemorate the centenary of ANZAC in Bigge Park, Liverpool.

The 18th Battalion Living History Group "at ease", along with a German and three Turkish soldiers in front of one of the memorials to the diggers in Bigge Park, Liverpool.   They provided a battle re-enactment.

Thank you to all the various sponsors and to Liverpool Council for organising the event.

Lest we forget .. .. ..

Some exciting news : )

GMAPS Honours Granted !

I have received notification that I have been granted the GMAPS honour - Grand Master of the Australian Photographic Society - in recognition as having reached the highest standing among exhibitors the world over and has the most extensive record of success. How proud that makes me feel.

What does it all mean? Well, simply I have attained in excess of 300 acceptances including 6 different images having won 6 awards in 6 different countries in international exhibitions – again attained in less than 12 months.

Makes me very proud !

A selection of images of the 18th Battalion Living History Group .. .. an enthusiastic group who relive the history of the average Australian Infantry (not Light Horse) soldier during the time of the Great War (1914-1918).

Although not always possible, I endeavour to capture the immediate environment and limit tell-tale signs of "today", like modern cars, buildings, etc.

I have received notification that I have been granted the MAPS honour - Master of the Australian Photographic Society - in recognition as being one of the top exhibition photographers in Australia. How proud that makes me feel.

What does it all mean? Well, simply I have attained in excess of 300 acceptances including 5 different images having won 5 awards in 5 different countries in international exhibitions – again attained in less than 12 months.   At the time that I applied (about two months' ago), there were only two other Australians with these Honours.

EFIAP/Bronze Distinction Granted !

I have now received notification that I have been granted the EFIAP/Bronze distinction – Excellence Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique - Bronze Level – the French affiliate of more than 85 national associations in the five continents. It is granted to honour eminent photographers known for their artistic work.

What does it all mean? Well, simply I have attained in excess of 75 acceptances in international exhibitions with at least 25 different images, with three different images winning awards in three different countries - again attained in less than 12 months. At the time that I applied (about two months' ago), there were only six other Australians with this distinction.

It is, indeed, another great honour !

My husband and I are fortunate in being able to travel to Australia's remote outback.  This brings many joys and benefits, including the ability to take in and admire the millions of stars without any light pollution.  It is just absolutely brilliant and you can only imagine what it is like if you have not experienced it!

Having played with a few night sky images incorporating foreground interest, on a recent trip I decided to photograph just the night sky.  The results, for me, are spectacular and nothing short of extraordinary.  I tried shooting using a narrower field of view, however, found the best result was using the widest angle - it gave a far more grandios sense of space.    I hope you enjoy the result .. .. I have taken some "poetic" license and incorporated a starburst to add that little more pizzaz.

Wollondilly Remembers .. .. ANZAC Centenary Commemoration.

They have both been reproduced in sepia, which is considered more in keeping with the times.

As the centenary of ANZAC quickly approaches, I wanted to share these images again as a tribute to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.  Lest we forget.

PPSA distinction granted !

More good news to share .. .. I now have been granted my PPSA distinction – Proficiency Photographic Society of America. The PSA is a worldwide organisation which promotes photography, including competitions, study groups, education and advanced knowledge and skills.

In order to attain this distinction, you have to have earned a minimum of 288 acceptances in international photographic exhibitions with at least 96 different images.

It is, indeed, another great honour !

Well, I finally ventured to picturesque Turimetta Beach to do some photography.  It's been on my shoot list for years, having admired many photos of the location.  After having done my research, all conditions were perfect - the moss was still visible; the tide at dawn was mid-tide - perfect to expose the rockshelf and have waves and water ebb its way onto the beach; and minimal chance of rain!

So, I arose at 3:00 am to travel to the other side of Sydney and dragged fellow photographer and mate David Miller willingly with me. We managed to secure our position amongst the growing number of photographers, which eventually totalled 14. It was worth the effort and I am delighted with the results.  I intend to re-visit this locality about the same time next year to do it all over again.

Turimetta Beach is in Sydney's Northern Beaches, approx 350 metres long and backed by steep bluffs.  It is an extremely popular photographers' haunt - particularly when the green moss covers the rock shelf for about 8 weeks during winter.

I have been residing in the south western suburbs of Sydney since 1988, having left Riverwood in 1983. I work full time as a personal assistant in the real estate industry, my whole working career having been dedicated to this industry. Had a lay period of about three years to raise my son from my first marriage. My son is now aged 21 and finished Year 10 in 2009. I remarried in September 2008 to a wonderful man who shares in my passions of photography, Australian history and music.

Given my renowned success in competing in photographic exhibitions, my services have been sought to judge local, national and international photographic competitions/salons.  I accept the challenge so that I may "give back" to a passion which has rewarded me handsomely.
