What a class act Structo Magazine is! To submit to new issue, writers are asked to buy a literary magazine (any magazine aside from their own) to help support the general literary magazine community.

Proud to have published a translation of a poem by Jordi Doce in their issue 12.

http://structomagazine.co.uk/a-submissions-call-with-a-difference/
We just opened our issue 15 submissions call. As usual we will be accepting work for five weeks, so you have until September 20th. But this call is a little different—we are asking everyone who sends in work for consideration to also show us that they have bought a literary magazine recently.

That's a genuinely interesting submission requirement but I wish that it were stricter because its easy to just google a photo of a literary magazines on a table (present photo excluded) or so forth. It should be the writer/entry submitter holding up the magazine (or zines). Maybe I'm just over-thinking this.

Yay! My translator's copy of the new issue of MODERN POETRY IN TRANSLATION arrived, at last, today! (The Spanish postal service, like most of the rest of the country, is on holiday in August...)

I translated 2 poems by Mexican poet Gabriela Cantú Westendarp, for the special focus on poetry for children (which is printed on blue paper, how lovely!)

Look forward to reading all the other poetic treats assembled by MPT editor Sasha Dugdale.

Yay! Finished translating the last ten pages, which means I now have a first draft of the novel! Whew!

This is what I was working on earlier this year, before the bursitis struck on Feb 3rd, wreaking havoc on many deadlines, many of which are still piled up and waiting.

But a relief to finally be able to get back to this and finish it. Yay!

Yesterday we were awoken before the crack of dawn by a persistent and virulent mosquito. Therefore, for lunch today, am preparing a gluten-free "pasta a lo pobre" (literally "poor man's pasta"), extra heavy on the garlic, and keeping fingers crossed it keeps the mosquitos at bay. Probably just as well I don't have a busy social agenda this weekend, though, given how much garlic I've just chopped for it... ;)

Translated 4 short stories today (all fairly short, between 300-1200 words each). Fun stuff: zombies and ghosts and lots of humor. :)
