Marathon editing session this afternoon, in which we managed to get through my entire next collection: 100 homoerotic microfiction in Spanish, out in the fall. We may have even finally agreed on a title! :-)

Got a second wind after dinner, thus managing to translate 4000 words in all today. A good day.

(I can manage around 2000 in a single sitting, it seems, and then need to let my brain rest. Not to mention my wrists!)

Yay! Today is publication day for MEMORY by Teresa P. Mira de Echeverría, which I translated into English, and which is now avail in print and ebook from Upper Rubber Boot. It is a Bradburyesque tale set on Mars, about genetic manipulation, colonialism, non-binary relationships, and, of course, the nature of memory itself.

The fine folks of Troy, Michigan were in a bit of a financial bind. They wanted to pass a small tax to help pay to keep the library open. This, being a tax increase, brought Tea Party activists out in droves. Those Tea Party activists cried and rallied against any increase in taxes, as in...

Good job!  It's about time someone stood up to the tea baggers. Unfortunately, around here the tea baggers vote, and most other people don't. There's a lesson to be learned.

Have managed to finish translating the first draft of another sci-fi tale, about cloning, a bit over 17,000 words. Will let it sit for a day or two and then proof.

I hate the sound of my own voice, but here's a video of me reading my poem "AIDS Limerick II: Lights Out" which was reprinted in the everyman's Library anthology MEASURE FOR MEASURE, edited by Annie Finch and Alexandra Oliver (it was first published in my collection DELETED NAMES).
