My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair...
When the Interactive Whiteboard (IWB) first caught the eye of educators in the late 90s and early 2000s, it invigorated hope that education technology might begin to align with the digital age. In fact, these IWBs were respectfully dubbed a “window-to-the-world.” Today, Futuresource Consulting re

Thanks to a Twitter bot that monitors Wikipedia edits made from Russian government IP addresses, someone from the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) has been caught editing a Russian-language Wikipedia reference to MH17 in an article on aviation disasters

This seems to be an abuse of statistics. Not because statistics might get it wrong, though they can but because we have the right to expect that these decisions would be made at a deeper and more considered level than this.
Evidence-based sentencing is unfair and probably unconstitutional.

http://www.techrepublic.com/article/ruling-against-microsoft-has-consequences-for-all-us-businesses/#ftag=RSS56d97e7

This is a main stream issue, but one I feel strongly about. In the long term I think the impact of this on educational techno;ogy could be profound.
A US District Court ruling that Microsoft must surrender data will have ramifications for US tech companies trying to do business around the world.

Is was a ruling waiting to happen. When those laws came into action is was pretty clear that this was just what was the intention of those laws.
Here in the Netherlands we had the issue of health data being stored by US subcontractors in the Netherlands. All they offered was some kind of side letter saying that they would comply with EU law and not mentioning anything the US laws.
They are not even allowed give information about it, if you read more on the subject.

http://www.techrepublic.com/article/more-than-economics-the-social-impact-of-open-data/#ftag=RSS56d97e7

This is talking about the government as a generator of data which could potentially be open. In Ireland, the civil service have aproximately 1 spreadsheet for every ten citizens, which is a lot of information
Alex Howard states that focusing on publishing open data with economic value shouldn't preclude or take too much focus away from digitizing and releasing data with other societal value.
