On the blog, Victoria and John's Old St. John's and Hanover Tavern wedding! Full of rainy-day prettiness for this history-loving couple. Link is in the comments.

The best part about a rainy wedding is rainy night portraits. Congratulations to Victoria and John, these guys were the absolute best and deserve all the happiness in the world.

It's always nice to wake up to an email from your film lab with new scans. Just got back a roll of medium format personal work. I'm loving these simple portraits of Shannon and Andrew up on the parkway in North Carolina. #mediumformat   #mediumformatphotography   #film   #photography   #portra400   #mamiya   #mamiya645af   #portrait   #portraittuesday   #portraitphotography   #mountainpeople   #love   #northcarolina

Wedding and portrait photographer, graphic designer, branding and marketing consultant. nerd.
Introduction
The short story: I make things pretty. Shakespeare. Brides. Your mom.

The long story:
I lived in the middle of nowhere Appalachia as a kid. My mom kept me occupied by teaching me how to make dolls out of corn husks and dying fibers with berries and digging clay from the pond down the hill to make sun-dried pottery. Yes, really.

By the time I got to high school I was hard-core into art and started painting and working in mixed media and won a bunch of awards and stuff. I had my first solo gallery show when I was 17. I also started taking photos.

I attended UNC-Chapel Hill on scholarship where I started out studying linguistics and international studies but changed my mind and ended up with a BFA in painting, photography and design. I also took a lot of classes in marketing and advertising.

My senior year I landed a position as senior print designer for a Raleigh ad agency and I started doing  commercial photography for them and on the side, building a portrait and wedding clientele.

I'm now in Virginia, and after working in a newsroom overseeing the design and editing for two large daily papers and working on a couple of dozen other papers and special projects, I'm the senior graphic designer and art director for the American Shakespeare Center. I also still do wedding and portrait photography. So I don't have much time for silly things like sleeping or eating. Somehow I do still have time for G+.

I think I like you.
