A month ago some friends started a project, a blog. The objective was to talk about tech and design avoiding clickbaits, providing quality over quantity, to be different from the rest of most spanish blogs.

Today I published my first design article, about Adaptive Icons. I'm sorry, because since it's in Spanish you probably will not understand it, but I want to thank +Eduardo Pratti +Michael Cook +Nick Butcher and +Anthony Nguyen ; since I used some stuff made by them, amazing design examples to give life to my article.

Here you have it (sharing is appreciated tho): https://bootloop.es/adaptive-icons-la-nueva-apuesta-de-android-por-la-consistencia/

There goes another design decision I will never understand, of course, by Google. The world needs an adaptive icon pack dashboard asap.
Google Maps has a new adaptive icon.

Changelog:
• Removed finish layer.
• Reduced pin size.
• Removed drop shadows.
• Removed long shadows.
• Apparently Google Maps wants you to get run over by a car, because now the pin is in the middle of the street.

[F]antastic work. I applaud whoever's responsible for this.

I made these icons back in 2016 and I still love them. They were designed for Siru, but I also sent an email to the company, because the icons they had were so horrific I even wanted to gave them mine for free. They didn't replied tho.

+Francisco Franco 's latest app is dope. I don't think I will use it for UI design purposes, but sharing the photo+color palette is too cool.

Wallpaper API on 8.1 Oreo looks very promising. I hope we get a bit of customization in the final build. Like, you know, a simple switch for turning the dark theme on or off.

Sadly, my 2012 MacBook died some weeks ago. Fixing it would cost ≈450€, so it wasn't worth. This is my new daily driver: HP Pavilion 14 bf008ns

Price: I got it for 650€, usually costs 750-800
Specs: i5 7200U, 8GB DDR4, 14" 1080p, 512GB SSD (it comes with 1TB HDD but I had the SSD from the MacBook), 10h battery, 1.6 kg
Bonus: USB-C port, ethernet port, small bezels

and it's b e a u t i f u l

My second article about adaptive icons, this time talking about +Nick Butcher 's Adaptive Icon Playground and Marius Claret's web, adapticon.tooo.io

I won't write about them for a while, since there isn't much more to talk about... I hope the next article I write will be about the first launcher to implement animations on adapticons 🤔
