One of the biggest challenges with content marketing is regularly coming up with engaging topics that keep readers interested.

If you’re a service business or a B2B company, it might be difficult to stay on topic – especially if your industry is relatively boring.

But, does that mean you should expand your topics to write about something outside of your niche?

In today's post, I offer up three ways to expand your blog content topics without losing readers. Check it out.

In recent weeks, I’ve had several conversations with people who want to know where they should spend their limited marketing budget.

These folks know they need to market their business, but they are limited on staff, resources and budget. If you’re a startup, non-profit or if sales are down at your company, I’m betting this sounds familiar.

So, what do you do when you have limited time and resources to market your business?

What are the most cost effective ways to get the word out about your brand?

In this post, I share five ways to invest in marketing when you are short on time and money.

If you spend any time marketing your brand on social media, you know that it’s getting tougher to reach your audience without paying for it.

That’s why many companies are turning to their employees to share company information on their personal profiles on Facebook, Twitter and other social media channels.

Encouraging employee advocacy on social media is a no-brainer.

Personal profiles get better reach (especially on Facebook) and it extends the visibility of your brand. And, who better to promote your business than the people who work for you?

The challenge is finding a way to encourage employees to become brand advocates on social channels.

How do you do that? I outline the process in today's post.

Check it out:

Last week, my friend, +Mark Schaefer, wrote a great blog post about the growing trend of bringing marketing in house.

And while this move might make sense for some businesses, there are still plenty of times when it makes sense to bring in a marketing agency to get to the job done.

If you've been thinking about hiring a marketing agency or if you're not sure if it's right for you, this post will help you decide. In it, I outline the seven top signs your business could benefit from a marketing agency. I also share they ways a marketing agency can help you.

Take a look and see if any of these sound familiar. If they do, you might be a great candidate for hiring an outsourced marketing team.

In recent months, Google has begun stripping away some of the key features of Google Plus. If you're here, it's likely you know that!

Does that signal the death of Google Plus? Does this mean you should give up on the social network?

+Stan Smith and I discuss all of this in our latest episode of The Marketing Huddle.

I would especially love to know what you think - do you think Google Plus is dying? Or, is it still a viable social network for businesses? Weigh in below!

Most companies today recognize the importance of blogging and content marketing. But knowing it needs to happen and actually executing on that plan are two different things. And, if you’re like most companies I talk to, you struggle with the latter.

Perhaps you’re having trouble maintaining a consistent blogging schedule.

Or maybe you’re having a hard time getting your team to write and create content.

And if you’ve got those two things handled, it’s possible that you’re struggling to get results from your efforts and you want to know how blogging can drive more traffic, leads and sales.

If any of that sounds familiar, today’s episode of The Marketing Huddle is for you.

Grassroots marketing is one of the oldest marketing tricks in the book. It’s a super-targeted, hyper-local effort focused on a specific group of people.

Where advertising and mass media seeks to attract a wide swath of attention, grassroots marketing focuses on building deeper connections with people on a personal level.

For start-ups and local businesses, grassroots marketing is a no-brainer. It’s often the go-to strategy when you’re strapped for cash or looking to connect with people in your community.

But is it still relevant in today’s digital marketing landscape? And, does it make sense for your business?

That's what +Stan Smith and I discuss on this week's episode of The Marketing Huddle.

Give it a listen to see how to use grassroots marketing to grow your business.

Standing out from your competition is critical to your company’s success.

While most people understand that concept, far too many businesses fail to put it into practice. They think they must serve everyone, be broad in focus or “keep up with the Joneses”, lest they miss out on revenue opportunities.

If you're not sure how to do that, today's blog post will help you. In it, I offer up 10 powerful ways to stand out from your competitors and give you examples of businesses that are doing it well.

I'd love to know - what are some businesses that you know of that do a great job of standing out? Or, what do YOU do to make your company stand out?

I have known Wendy for several years - first as a friend and then as a client of mine. During that experience, I was thoroughly impressed with Wendy's business acumen and knowledge of the market. That's why I have always been quick to recommend her to friends. However, I finally got to experience Wendy's skills first-hand when my husband and I decided to sell our house. Wendy quickly jumped into action and I was impressed with how she marketed our property. Her hard work paid off - our house sold in TWO DAYS and we got the price we wanted! On top of that, Wendy's connections helped us discover a new construction property to buy that wasn't even on the market. It's a great opportunity to get in an up-and-coming neighborhood. Not only are we excited to be building a new house, we believe this will be an excellent investment for us. Wendy is a go-getter and a class act. She's well-connected, super-savvy and absolute joy to work with - I can't recommend her enough!
