When it comes to marketing, most businesses think about attracting new customers. They think that the best way to grow revenue is by increasing the size and volume of their customer base. And while that is certainly one option for growth, it takes incredible time and marketing resources to make that happen.

Smart companies, on the other hand, recognize that the easiest and most effective way to generate more revenue is by looking to your existing customer base.

In this post, I show you four effective ways to grow your business by marketing to your existing customer base. And no, you don't have to turn into a used car salesman to do it. It's all about serving, not selling. I know you can do it!

Want to grow your business? Quit chasing new customers. In this post, we'll show you how to generate more revenue from your existing customers.

When it comes to social media, we're all searching for "the next big thing." That's certainly the sentiment I heard from a number of people at Social Media Marketing World last week.

However, the next big thing might not be what you think. In fact, it might not be something new at all.

In this post, I explore why chasing after shiny objects and searching for the next Instagram, Snapchat or Twitter might be a futile effort. Instead, I give you three things that you can do to help you stand out from the crowd and achieve big things for YOUR company.

Check it out and let me know what you think. Do you agree?

Betting on the wrong trends can be a huge waste of time and resources and chasing the next big thing only distracts us from our goals and strategy.

Marketing measurement is imperative for today's businesses. And yet, so many people and organizations struggle with this.

The biggest challenge is determining WHAT to measure. It's easy to get overwhelmed by the numbers and simply guess what to track.

If you're doing that, STOP NOW. Instead, follow this three-step framework to help you determine exactly what marketing metrics track. Your company, your boss or your client will thank you.

Let's be honest. Many marketers struggle with measurement and analytics.

However, in today's world, understanding the metrics is no longer an option. It's an imperative - especially if you want your executive leadership to take you seriously.

If you want to get better at measuring your marketing and understanding the analytics, today's episode of The Marketing Huddle is for you. In it, +Stan Smith and I take a deep dive into the numbers and show you how to make sense of it all.

If you're a serious marketer or business owner, we think you'll love this one.

I hope you never find yourself embroiled in a PR crisis. But, if you do, you can follow the example of +Armstrong Real Estate in Nashville.

They found themselves in hot water last week after sending out a controversial mailer. People took to social media to share their outrage about the campaign and it quickly gained momentum. It wasn't long before the local news media picked up the story.

But, the story didn't last long. Why? Because the company handled the situation with grace. The way they responded to this PR crisis offers a great example should you find yourself in a similar situation.

If you find yourself in the middle of a PR crisis, here are five key steps you should take if the media come knocking on your door.

You see, content can be the best sales person on your team if you set it up the right way. But, you can’t just create content and hope something magical happens. You have to DO something with it if you want to it to be a resource for your sales team that drives revenue for your business.

I have known Wendy for several years - first as a friend and then as a client of mine. During that experience, I was thoroughly impressed with Wendy's business acumen and knowledge of the market. That's why I have always been quick to recommend her to friends. However, I finally got to experience Wendy's skills first-hand when my husband and I decided to sell our house. Wendy quickly jumped into action and I was impressed with how she marketed our property. Her hard work paid off - our house sold in TWO DAYS and we got the price we wanted! On top of that, Wendy's connections helped us discover a new construction property to buy that wasn't even on the market. It's a great opportunity to get in an up-and-coming neighborhood. Not only are we excited to be building a new house, we believe this will be an excellent investment for us. Wendy is a go-getter and a class act. She's well-connected, super-savvy and absolute joy to work with - I can't recommend her enough!

S2N Design is my go-to team for my all of my design needs - both for my own company and for my clients. There's a reason I use them time and time again - they are smart, creative, responsive and fun. And, they realize that for design to be good it can't just be beautiful - it has to be functional and strategic. That's incredibly important to me and my clients. And, that's why they are more than just a design vendor, they are a valuable partner for my business.
