As a first-time Lake George visitor, I booked Scotty's solely based on online research--which is why I feel it's important to share my experience. My boyfriend and I stayed for three nights the weekend before Memorial Day, so overall the resort was pretty quiet. Con: the restaurant didn't open until the following week. Pro: kayaks and paddle boats were free. All interaction with the staff was pleasant, the rooms were clean, never had a shortage of towels or coffee pods, and the hair dryer and mini fridge were much appreciated touches. As 20-somethings who get bored easily, we were relieved to be a just a short walk to town. Scotty's is close enough to make several strolls to and from the action, but far away enough to feel tucked away in the woods by the lake--away from any construction or views of anything other than the resort and lake. There is also a Price Chopper within a 10 minute walk or shorter, which sells beer (now you see why the mini fridge is worth mentioning).
