When people do great work, make it easy for others to recognize them for it. Simple, public recognition is one of the most effective and most underutilized management tools.

At Google, we built a tool called gThanks to let Googlers publicly thank one another for going above and beyond. But we have low tech tools as well: check out my "Wall of Happy" celebrating folks on my team below.

What’s great about this system is that it benefits both the giver and receiver. Not only does it facilitate a culture of recognition and service, it also encourages employees to act like owners and call out good work when they see it. #workrules #thanks #recognition #google
