At Google, we found that the single best thing new people can do is be proactive. We nudged them to encourage this behavior during new hire orientation and sent a follow-up email a few weeks later. The result? Those who saw the message became productive 25% faster than those who didn’t, and those less naturally inclined to be proactive got an especially big boost.
