Vic -- thank you for a tremendous almost eight years at Google.  You cut your teeth on our mobile apps and developer relations, turning our disparate efforts into something great.  When I first used turn-by-turn navigation, it blew me away.  And, walking onto the stage at I/O last year, it was amazing to see developers so excited about Google.  These were vintage Vic projects.  Then you built Google+ from nothing.  There are few people with the courage and ability to start something like that and I am very grateful for all your hard work and passion.  I really enjoy using Google+ on a daily basis, especially the auto awesome movies which I really love sharing with my family and friends.  Good luck with your next project after Google.  In the meantime we’ll continue working hard to build great new experiences for the ever increasing number of Google+ fans.
And Then

Last month, my wife's uncle died in a tragic accident in LA when the bicycle he was using to get lunch was hit by a truck. At the memorial service his daughter relayed a very touching story.

She said her dad (who was her best friend) called every day to talk. But instead of opening the call with the customary "How are you" or "What's going on", her dad always opened the conversation with "And then?" Her father viewed each conversation as a continuation of the last, and what pained her the most was that there were to be no more "and thens". I cried.

Since then I've thought a lot about how similar this is to our life's endeavors. We pour our heart and soul into our work and it becomes something we love and cherish. But even the challenges we work on today will one day become "and thens" as we move on to the next.

Today I'm announcing my departure from Google after almost 8 years.

I have been incredibly fortunate to work with the amazing people of Google. I don't believe there is a more talented and passionate collection of people anywhere else. And I'm overwhelmed when I think about the leadership of +Larry Page and what he empowered me to do while at Google. From starting Google I/O, to being responsible for all mobile applications, to creating Google+, none of this would have happened without Larry's encouragement and support.

I'm also forever in debt to the Google+ team. This is a group of people who built social at Google against the skepticism of so many. The growth of active users is staggering, and speaks to the work of this team. But it doesn't tell you what kind of people they are. They are invincible dreamers. I love them. And I will miss them dearly.

Finally, thank you to all those who I've met on Google+. The community here has been so supportive that I don't even know how to say thank you. You all make Google+. Without you, this social network wouldn't exist. Your support for Google+, and for me personally is something I will never forget.

But, now is the time for a new journey. A continuation. An "and then". I am excited about what's next. But this isn't the day to talk about that. This is a day to celebrate the past 8 years. To cry. And smile. And to look forward to the journey yet to come.

And then....

My condolences and safe journeys
Google I/O won't be the same.  Good luck on your next adventure.
and then...we share a story. To be continued...
Wow! I will definitely miss watching you speak at Google I/O +Vic Gundotra

All the best for your new journey. I hope you will still continue to use your Google+ profile.
Parabéns, +Vic Gundotra! São pessoas como você que tornam o mundo melhor para se viver! :)
Who is gonna give good presentations at this year's I/O then? Not saying anyone else is bad, but Vic and Barra were the best..
thank you +Vic Gundotra to make a google plus so awesome place to share and make me have many friends :)

Best wishes for you :)
Amazing and exciting future! +Vic Gundotra I am so happy to have everything with +Google+ and the team has done some amazing. I will take that "and then" and use that in my future. Huge support from a little tech person in Portland, Or.
Dear +Larry Page!
Google+ is awesome, thanks to +Vic Gundotra and all the others working on it.
However, it tends to annoy a lot of users with the "Google Yesterday" effect which is refusing to show new posts in one's stream from time to time. When present, Google+ will show the same old posts on top of the stream for hours, sometimes days, no matter what you do.
There are a lot of users complaining about this, and there are quite a few supposed solutions or workarounds neither of which really work.
Please take a deep look into this and find a solution.
oh wow no way :-( I'm just a little taken by surprise. Google community won't be the same with him, but we're thankful for his contributions as it's left an imprint. I'm sure Google+ will continue to mature and grow in honor of his time at Google. Good luck to +Vic Gundotra in his future endeavors.
Maybe now it's time to restore Google Reader?
Wishing you the best +Vic Gundotra.  Thank you for creating the best social media experience in the world with Google+.
"Ladies and gentlemans please welcome on the stage Vic Gundotra" why not this year :(
+Larry Page +Vic Gundotra thank you for sharing your gracious and heart-warming comments.  The understatement--you have all "changed the world".  Your creativeness and intelligence has brought all of us closer together in so many ways--through google+, hangouts and through so many of your integrated technologies.  Vic, although we have never met, may the + be with you in your new endeavors.
Thanks for bringing +Vic Gundotra on board, +Larry Page.  I know how Google+ has changed the lives of millions of people.  Google already was the de-facto standard for search, but then it just got so much more personal with G+. It's kind of life-changing stuff for so many people — anyway, stay awesome you guys!
Very inspiring. Really a great perspective on life and the things we do as life moves thru the corridor of time
Good luck and thanks! Can't wait to hear about your next venture
Best of luck in everything you do +Vic Gundotra! I was really inspired by your talks and am saddened that I will not see more.
+Vic Gundotra All the best for your future endeavors. With your & +Hugo Barra exit, I am shocked. You brought us exciting +Android features, innovation in Google+ & Photo capabilities. Why would you leave at such exciting times when exciting times are happening in Android & Google life. I hoped you continue to bring us more innovations in Android & Google.  I was looking forward to you anchoring next I/O & Nexus events. Now, I don't know. All the best for your future endeavors. I hope you stay active with your photography on Google+. Thank You !!! +Larry Page
His post filled up with so many well wishes... before I could get a word in edgewise. :) Best of luck, +Vic Gundotra. It sure won't be the same around here without you at the helm.
+Vic Gundotra Thanks for bringing your special brand of innovativeness, light, and cheer to Google! You will definitely be missed, but we shall cheer you on as you go on to your next great adventure! Best of luck, now and always!

The sheer brilliance of your work shall be immortalised like dinos..:))
Good Luck Vic. May your enjoyment in your next adventure surpass all those before it :-)
Google+ is awesome, It created new standards of social network all together. Thank you  +Vic Gundotra . I want to be one of them passionate guys in Google but I feel its kind of impossible thing . But I am really a die heart fan of Google and talking about Google everywhere is kind of satisfaction for me.
I have always heard what an amazing place Google is to work and I am sure that it is.

I would also like to thank all the people that have worked on G+. As a photographer (part time) it has given me a amazing place to share my passion. +Vic Gundotra  I think a quote from Stephen King best fits how I feel, less the cage refs.

“Some birds are not meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure.”
I'm not taking you out of my Google circle +Vic Gundotra. You can't make me! Best of luck going forward!
Hello Larry,

I know this email may end on a trash can or you just give me a second
and let you know that I have an invention that your company is looking

I invented Maglev Formula 1 or Maglev One, a Maglev Hex racing concept
where by racing you harness energy from Gravity, Wind or Solar.

I also invented a Multi Cyclic Magnetic Elevator that can be the blue
print to space elevator.

I also invented a catapult recyclable launching of space crafts that
will bring man back and forth to Mars.

I also invented a Monorail that can harness energy from gravity
converting the Kinetic Energy of Moving Passengers.

I have a lot of big ideas, and I also want to patent a Cold Engine
using Liquid Nitrogen that will replace Fossil Fuel.

I hope you can give me a chance to show what I can and give my ideas a
light of a day.

God bless,

Jose L. Guardo Jr.
+Vic Gundotra , you will truly be missed.  The 'ghost town' ;)will never be the same.  Good Luck!
Good luck +Vic Gundotra. Although G+ was after my time, I was working on the Google Mobile team when you joined and watched you bring vision and direction to make Google Mobile truly excellent. Fun times!
:O I still think why would anyone leave Google ! Anyways good luck vic

Wishing +Vic Gundotra many successful And Thens.. Thank you for creating G+ and making it so fab!
Good luck! And have more perfect "and thens"!
This has made me change the way I think about life.

What a sad day! Yet exciting for +Vic Gundotra and all of his fans, like myself! We all are going to miss seeing your posts and you on Google side of the world. You have been an amazing celebrity to follow, and it won't stop here! Congratulations, thank you for always making our experiences count and listen! Above all, thank you for your leadership! Good luck, and then...
Good luck. And now make Google+ the real facebook killer that deserves to be! Accelerate its evolution, find new innovative ways to interact with it, complete the integration with the other Google services, provide the best hangout experience, give apt reasons to replace facebook, empower us with new depth of customization and personalization, enrichen it with new options and capabilities, make it really cool to use it! Google+ is the future of social media reinventing itself ceaselessly and it has to prove that all the time.
All the best +Vic Gundotra and it seems you both had a special work relationship. Best wishes to both of you.
Good luck Vic.  Google+ has really come a long way and I use it every day now :)
+Vic Gundotra good luck .Your horizons are widely open. I'm sure we'll hear about you  again on your next adventure whatever and wherever that might be. (keep taking those photos, you are getting better)
Good luck dear Sir. You will never be forgotten for your contributions. Thank you for breaking the bond of what a social network "should be". Thank you for giving us not only a choice but an avenue of collaboration and keeping in touch with family and friends. Those things are priceless. Thank you for improving humanity. Good luck in your future successes. God bless

If you have an open position, feel free to catch me on hangouts :p
Nice you got any jobs going
Work it's important to all of us. Life is not work.
you mean this is the dude that created auto-awesome or just the guy lucky enough to hear it and with balls enough to believe in it !?!  nice smile!
+Larry Page Would be awesome if you could just share your comment as post as it happens with comments in new Google+ comment system on Youtube. It would be a post that contains your comment in other post. And all these our comments would be under your comment in Vic's post.
ps: Google+ is really messy and too time-consuming.
+pio dal cin It doesn't mean he has to post everyday, he probably browses just like I do. I don't post anything, I just use the photo upload and join communities and use it as a place to read posts and sometimes even tech news.
+pio dal cin: "Please correct "I'm using +Google+ daily" your last post was  march 18th."
— It isn't necessarily incorrect. You can do many things on  Google+ in addition to creating new public posts. For instance, you can watch YouTube videos, that's really a great Google service. You can also receive notifications in your notifications panel from anywhere, including YouTube.
We will miss you at I/O Vic, but hey toast to a new chapter in your journey...keep innovating.
Im so sorry for google co. And for every google fan what a lost
Your time was well spent, Vic. You've left an indelible imprint on Google+ and I/O - many blessings on your next adventures of #andthen 👍

Long live Google + Android

Is this a belated April fools joke? I'm waiting....... Still waiting.........
Google+ has become a legitimate, viable social networking platform under Vic's leadership.
+Vic Gundotra You & your team did a lot of good work in terms of G+'s functionalities. Wish you all the best for your new project.
Larry, just wanted to make sure I hope the rumors are not true about Google+ shuttering, I am just starting to know more and more people wanting to get onto it and instead of being over on Facebook.  So please continue the project in someway yet!  Thanks Garry
It makes me so sad. Don't know why may be I can't imagine Google plus without Vic. U always remain my inspiration. Best of everything for your future. Love .
Thank you for the Google+. I love it.
Good luck for next trip in your journey, I believe you will make another successful story!
Such good luck to you!
Google+ = Vic looking forward to reading and then I started ......
This is a complete surprise. Looks like 8 great years. I have come to like google+ over the years but dont like the name. It gives the feeling that it is yet another thing from google about you and not not about me. My social network should be about me. Also i use it in read only mode , scrolling down my news feed and enjoying some of the awesome stories and pictures. Sorry to hear about your uncle.

Good Luck with your your next venture.
Just got to know that there was an IITian behind all these things...:-\
Touching, thank you Vic. Best wishes to you and your family.
Good luck +Vic Gundotra , will surely be missed a lot at Google I/O and AllThingsGoogle... I want to thank you for making this amazing product Google+, for your inspiration to me in so many things, and I hope you will continue do that here on Google+... Wish you Safe and fun rest of the journey, Keep in touch with us here at Google+, We hope you sure do :-)
Oh, I can hardly believe it ! What's a pity ! So, how about the Android, the Google Plus ? I hope they are still great after their creator left. I know I should not say these words, but I'm very sorely when some creator neglects his/her works.
Ever since I watched Google I/O it was about +Vic Gundotra  and his awesome presentation which inspired me to my core.. And now I feel I/O will be incomplete without you. But its always about future endeavors, cheers for that. You will be missed.. But we hope to see you at some other conferences :)
The thing I noticed when watching Google I/O are not just the awesome products Google announced and showcased but also the Charisma of people such as +Vic Gundotra and +Hugo Barra . Sure gonna miss that Vic.. I understand how 8 years can stifle your creativity though. I myself left a job where I had been at for 6 years. Wishing you all the best in your next endeavor!
He will be missing.
We will miss you +Vic Gundotra! +Larry Page please don't mess up his legacy but keep on improving on a marvelous product with no comparison. We will be stranded if this fails, as will you!
You are the Godfather of google+ thank you for google+
Alles hat ein Ende nur die Wurst hat zwei (German saying)
Everything has an end, only the sausage has two
I am a Google+  " adicted", the second thing I do every single day, just before breakfast and reading the Google news, is having a lot of fun with the Google+.   1 minute of fun is worth 1 day of longer life. Thank you very much and good luck.
The master mind of the Google thanks sir
Mr Page, I have designed a platform which could fit very well next to Google+, as a professional communications platform. It also has a nice European angle. Would you & Google be interested ?
One person who every young would wish to thank - Shrimant Larry Page
Best wishes in yr new endeavour.
nooo, will miss him. Wondering who will take over his post ... and where is he heading?
Great efforts and sacrifices Vic. I wish you all the best. Stay in touch with the community.
Let's hope one of those projects is reinstating XMPP interop to Hangouts...
+Vic Gundotra  is awesome gentleman. I hope Google+ continues to have someone as passionate about Google+ caring for it.
Chief Vic Gundotra ++++
Don't kill G+.  Remaster it.
Ladies and gentlemen the Google masterpiece has officially entered Google plus building. Via LiveChatin..
I can't imagine any other googler or internet ceo getting the flow of love that +Vic Gundotra is getting here at Google+. Here's to the first internet head that personally connected to his audience. All the best +Vic Gundotra!
Thanks for your great work and for your open communication with the g+ users +Vic Gundotra! You will be missed !
Wish you all the best!
I'm proud to say I've been here since 2 years or so this place has grown so much in such a short amount of time.. I still love G+ more than any other social network and still use it everyday.. I've met a lot of great G+ friends here locally and abroad. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication +Vic Gundotra! Please keep G+ going :))) Thank you +Larry Page and Google+ Team.
Good luck Vic. +Larry Page and +Google  for what its worth, G+ is a good product (though not popular like FB)..dont kill it please. It is cleaner and has its positives. Vanilla android fans like it.
When +Vic Gundotra  came to Japan, I was amazed how much you love the product and how greatly you shared pictures taking in Japan. I love Google+ more than before thanks to you.
Boa sorte pra ele! Obrigada por criar essa rede social tão especial pra nós...
+Larry Page keep Vic's legacy on. Google+ is the best social network there is. Please, don't abandon us!
dude larry I just thought of this great feature for chrome browser.  Right click the top menu to mute the tab!  I really like how it shows the little sound icon.  If I could mute it from there, it would be awesome.
Por favor +Larry Page não dê espaço a que se cumpram as predições augoreiras dos que torcem contra o Google+. Essa é a melhor rede social que existe. É uma criação maravilhosa de +Vic Gundotra. Que dure para sempre.
Thanks for the awesome work you did.
You guys need public APIs for Social Media Suites (+Buffer, +HootSuite) to integrate with and increase Google+ reach. Why haven't you guys allowed this yet?
Yeah and one more important thing, why pages cannot be operated from G+ Android app. Pages owners are content creators , they like to post on the move from Tablets and smartphones which we can post on other social pages very easily.

+Google+ Your Business
Thanks to Vic Gundotra for all the things he did.
It's definitely more than technology it's passion .
Is it true that Google+ will close? Everybody says that on social networks.
google+ is a wonderful experience, i love it
Adios vic... and the very best for your next venture

i love Google+. the sad thing is i'll be using it again only next year :(
All the best! Let´s see how Google+ will evolve further without your vision and leadership. Best, Andreas
i'll be damned if g+ has a games store like facebook.. i mean i envy dad playing farmville 2  and i am ardent g+ fan and i have nothing to ply with
Good luck on your next venture. Dream longer and see further. We're counting on it.
+Larry Page Google has been very fortunate to have had +Vic Gundotra working with all the wonderful and creative geniuses there. I know he's going to be missed!
I just read this. I read the part about riding a bike.
I do almost everyday. Except recently, because the wind has been 70 plus around here. It blows me away every time I'm out riding my bicycle because there have been more fatalities recently. Maybe because there are more people who are in a rush to get to where ever they are going. I wear a lot of protective motocross gear when I ride. I  also wear a full face helmet with protective gloves and even though I could still get hit and die I let everyone go first. Whether walking or bicycling and or walking. I guess I have to be more aware of my surrounding's.
People are much impatient these days.
I can only share this that might help some people who drive fast and reckless most of the time.
One day you are driving in traffic and the next you are in prison for man slaughter for the rest of your life. Think I'd rather take the bus or taxi at this point. Well I do live in Los Angeles and people don't think until they realize it behind bars. Most lives are ruined by mistakes, careless mistakes.
These days most people are on drugs or pills when they drive their cars. Even though some of us receive a DUI( I never did/ Thank goodness) If its not prison and you just have a dui. Consider yourself lucky this time. Next time you would wake up in a small cell with Bubu saying" You're Mine." It is not pretty when you wake up in a prison and you never are going to get out to enjoy things like the sun or even a cloudy day. Just say'in...By the way I'm sending angles your way. thanx Vic   Sean G.
Vic - congratulations! Can you help me with something before you go? Please? Msg me and ill fill you in.
Is nice to see this, because I got inspiration to study everyday. When I see Google. I think in a new experience and good co workers. +Larry Page +Vic Gundotra. I'll be the next, Google's engineer
+Vic Gundotra Thank you for Google+ Far Superior Wins The Social Internet Evolution Award. This is how the Internet is done!
I am very disappointed by this service,
You company sent me a notice saying it wanted my business, then i spent an hour on the phone with one of your representatives while he created an ad for me. I have spent about 45 minute trying to figure out just what the heck you are talking about why my site is suspended. I have not given specifics just a list of reasons sites are suspended. What the heck YOUR salesman created the ad, so why all this crap! give me my money back. I am going to spend my entire day tomorrow going to every social networking site and give this service a bad review. You cannot treat people this way!
Ra g
Thank you!!!! Keep improving Google+ and don't let it to die.. I can't imagine my days without Google+ !!
Yes  - my enlightment - you are "the choosen one" be better than we are" -GO FORWARD FOR ALL!
Where are you going next? You won't have a resume problem, for sure.
All the best & Good luck
Dear +Larry Page

I hope you don't make rumors come true and slowly shut down Google+. Because if you did, it would be a great loss. It may not replace Facebook. But it doesn't have to. If I were head of Google+, I would advance the current strength which lies - as far as I can see - in two areas (besides the obvious universal login):
- Topic focussed communities
- Personal website/web content rating

I wish you and the team all the best for the future of Google+
Amir l

And then, God bless him
Best wishes 4u.
mostly only accussers accuse and the ones who are silent are usually from experience..
Google + is on a spiral down now, it losing it magic, to many fake accounts now,
Sir i request you to add Odia language in Google Translate.
