Yesterday, 9/11/17 was the 16th anniversary of the terror attacks on 9/11/01. Almost 3000 people lost their lives that day and countless others in the aftermath. While this was the worst day in this country, it brought the country together. Hell, even Red Sox fans were rooting for the Yankees. We were truely one “United” states. Unfortunately, it didn’t last long. Keep this in mind as I continue.
I have decided to have my own silent protest. No NFL this year. I am tired of the entitiled babies, the criminals, drug users and especially the disrespectful, attention-seeking “protestors” sitting during the national anthem. These individuals never had to serve in the military. Never had to sacrifice. Never had to say Good-Bye to their families, not knowing if they would see them again. Yet, they disrespect the people that do. The people that gave their lives so these morons would have the right to disrespect this country while they play a game for a living. So, I will not watch the NFL this season until the players with the urging of the spineless owners, begin to act more appropriately as the role models they seem to be. I know one person can’t make a difference but maybe if a few people do the same thing and few people they know do the same thing, you can hit the NFL where it hurts…their wallets. Viewership for the NFL was down last season. Many atributed that to Colin Kaepernick’ trend setting and attention getting antics.Since then many other players have jumped on board. Whatever issue they are protesting, it should never do so at the cost of ignoring the sacrifice of thousnads of faceless heroes. Protesting is fine, just not during the national anthem. A wise man once said that a real hero is someone that does the right thing when no one is watching. These “players” are not heroes, just babies seeking attention.
Since money is the only thing that motivates pro teams, maybe this kind of protest will initiate change. It shouldn’t take a plane flying into a building to unite this country…whoever the leader is.
