Awesome classic (pre-web) SF now available online!
IF Magazine was a monthly science fiction magazine that was first published in 1952, and ran through 1974, before it was merged into its sister publication, Galaxy Science Fiction. Now, you can read the entire run online over on Internet Archive.

Awesome.
In wintry Omaha, Nebraska, a local veteran is using his modded wheelchair to help neighbors with snow plowing.

Teens, join in the fun with Google Code-in contest

This week is the start of Google Code-in, a contest introducing teens to open source software development. Interested students can now register at the contest site, g.co/codein, and start claiming and working on tasks designed by 14 open source projects. Students can earn certificates, t-shirts, hoodies and a grand prize trip to Google’s headquarters next summer.

Google Code-in is an opportunity for students to use the skills they have been learning in the classroom and apply them to real open source projects. Students can become involved with these open source communities and see first hand how software projects work while also learning new skills.

Time to "borrow" some really good words.
While investigating non-English words associated with positive emotions and concepts, a British researcher recently discovered 216 foreign words for which there is no English translation.

Much quicker service than at the nearby university location. Part of me would prefer that no one else figures that out and comes here instead, but I'm ignoring that part. Edited 8/23/2016 to reflect an additional star. Readers should understand that I'm rating a Subway and that this is a pretty good Subway, but that it's never going to be a fine dining experience; so, four stars is a relative rating. It's a good Subway!

Friendly, conscientious staff. Excellent rural location. Great fresh-squeezed OK in the morning. Good coffee. Tapas not all to my taste (the meat sampler, in particular, wasn't for me), but was all appreciated by at least some in my party.

4 stars, if this is what you're looking for. El Corte Ingles is basically a giant Macy's (to an American) with a grocery store and gourmet shop on the lowest level. The Macy's part I won't comment (much) on (yawn!), But the grocery store is quite nice. Extensive olive oil and alcohol selections, plus fresh produce. Unfortunately, the grocery store was the only part of the experience that felt "Spanish." The homogenized Macy's experience matched U.S. shopping, but I'm pretty sure I didn't come to Spain for that. If it's what you're looking for, there it is! Good luck! I'll stick with the grocery store.

Courteous staff. Tasty malts. Decent prices. My wife & daughter insist it's worth 5 stars! "Secret" menu sign could be larger though.

4 stars on the Subway scale. Son reports roast beef almost as good as in US. I think the teriyaki chicken (pollastre teriyaki) with cheddar beats its US parallel. Soda is unfortunately Pepsi stuff. But OMG, a dude just came by and cleared my tray. Awesome!
