"Lightroom catalog was not found."
This is the message that I received a couple of days ago when I launched Lightroom. There are few things in a photographers life that will cause greater panic. Sure enough, the drive that contained all of my photos for the past year and a half was not available on my computer. Well, you would think that with over 35 years experience in computers that I certainly had a backup, right? Wrong! I had gotten complacent saying to myself that I would get my photos backed up next week for sure.
Now what? Did the disk crash? Was there a cabling problem? What about the disk controller? After two days of troubleshooting and pulling my hair out I finally got the disk to mount and got access to my files. Thank the heavens!
I now have my Lightroom disk (which is a USB drive) backed up to another local disk and I have purchased a cloud backup solution from crashplan.com
. Crashplan provides unlimited backup of all the files on my computer as well as attached portable drives with no limit on file size. All this for $4.00 per month when using the following 20% off offer at http://www.crashplan.com/ff20
. I don't get a kickback.
Don't let this happen to you or worse, actually lose your precious pictures.
