If you want to know the answer to questions like: what are the biggest legal mistakes most small businesses make, how do I find the right legal representation for my business, how do I choose the right business structure to properly protect myself, what do I do when people steal my images and what steps should I take to prevent my images from being stolen...you'll want to listen to this latest episode with guest and legal expert, Jo−Ná Williams.
Today we’re going to be talking with legal expert, Jo−Ná Williams on how to protect your business. Our guest founded her practice, J.A. Williams Law and The Artist Empowerment Firm back in 2011. But her desire to build her companies started a lot earlier. I’m going to have her share her story, but basically she …

A few weeks ago, I got a message from Kevin White (who's currently doing all of his ISES Live Presidential duties in N'awlins). He told me that he enjoyed the show but felt there was something missing. I'm paraphrasing...but...he suggested that I spend more time letting people know my thoughts and perspectives as opposed to just interviewing.

That comment gave me great pause.

And so I reached out to Kevin and asked him if he'd be willing to flip the script and interview me. He said, 'yes!' (quite emphatically, I might add).

My personal opinion is that Kevin has missed his calling ;) He was an incredible interviewer. He made me comfortable, asked some really great questions and got me to open up on topics - some of which made me uncomfortable.

Question: Is this something you'd like to hear again on Lara Mcculloch . Start Some Shift?
OK, so today we’re going to do something TOTALLY different. A few weeks ago, I got an email from Kevin White with a suggestion that caught me off guard. Now, if you don’t know who Kevin is, he’s the President of the International Special Events Society and for nearly two decades he’s been designing and …

"If I had a penny for every time I heard, “I don’t understand why we lost that project. We’re heads and tails above that other company”, I’d be on a very large boat right now…somewhere hot and far, far away.

In all likelihood, you lost because you didn’t solve your prospective client’s pain. As my son would say, you left their ouchie untouched and someone else figured out how to soothe it."

Ah, summer. The season of weddings. And the time when stressed out guests scramble in search of appropriate celebration attire. That was me about a year ago. I had 3 – count ‘em – 3 weddings to attend. And a closet full of ‘nothing to wear’. So, I went on an exhaustive search for the perfect dresses. And …

Love this interview with +Amanda Serfozo & +Joseph Rooks of +Lexicontent on how to write social media content that moves people.

"Stories you don't tell can't sell" (Joseph Rooks)
Some of the most common questions I get asked on a regular basis revolve around content. “How do I create great stuff to share in social media?”, “How often should I post?”, “Is there a way to connect my content to sales…without being salesy?” Great news… My guests today – Amanda Serfozo & Joseph Rooks …

Anything that’s in short supply has value. Holy smokes. To see this theory in action, just witness how precious my jar of Nutella becomes when it’s getting low. Newsflash: Life is busy. It’s teeming with things to do. But time, on the other hand…time is fleeting. We value time. We wish we had more of it. …

So, it might seem a little strange that a business growth podcast is doing an episode on nutrition. But to me, the two go hand in hand.

I’m a single mom. I run my own business. Am at the gym 6 days a week, run a podcast, write for publications, travel and still have energy to spend time with friends and family. A lot of people ask me where I get my energy from. And I tell them, food is my fuel.

But it wasn’t always this way. About 15 years ago I had just moved in with my ex-husband. I began eating what he ate. I gained weight. I was also working a very stressful agency job…and one of my clients was Cadbury. Every day around 3pm, I'd inevitably hit my wall. So, I’d go into my desk and break off a chunk of a dairy milk bar (or one of the other chocolates I had in my fully stocked desk). And, by the time I left for work and did the 1 hour commute back home, I’d be in what could only be described as a fog. I never felt sharp and on point.

Then a friend suggested I do a cleanse. I had to cut out sugar, breads, red meats. It totally changed my eating habits. The fog literally lifted and I (as a side-effect) lost 15 lbs. That began my side-passion for nutrition. I haven’t looked back since.

Good nutrition increases energy, focus and drive. It doesn’t matter how smart you are or how passionate you are about what you do. If you don’t have the energy to mak it through your day, you’re running an up hill battle.

So, today is all about helping your get that energy up, so you can focus on building your business.

I’m thrilled to have Sara Best, registered wholistic nutritionist share her tips for boosting your energy naturally - she’ll tell you what to do and what to avoid.
