Summer is in full swing but that doesn't mean you can't plan ahead for the Fall season. The first Missouri Mavericks hockey game of the season is against the Alaska Aces in AK on Friday October 16th.

The first home game is on Saturday October 24th against the Wichita Thunder. While it's sweltering out, keep cool by thinking about ice hockey plans!

The calendar for the season is available for reference:

Recently I rented the Sony Pictures Classic documentary film Red Army. It is a touching, historical look that transcends borders and political ideologies.

Have you seen this film before? Read more about it on my most recent blog post.

Did you hear? Yesterday the Kansas City Chiefs announced the 24 year old tradition of Red Friday will become Red Thursday when the Chiefs kick off the season with the home opener against the Denver Broncos on CBS' Thursday Night Football.

The long-standing tradition will be honored with sales of special-edition newspapers started more than two decades ago by my father and Chiefs Founder Lamart Hunt and the Chiefs Red Coaters. Chiefs Executives, Former Chiefs players, Chief Cheerleaders, Local business leaders, dignitaries, and media personalities will also be selling "This is Chiefs Kingdom" flags at more than 170 locations, including all Kansas City and St. Joseph area McDonald's. The net proceeds from the flag sales will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City.

Read more about this tradition and the home opener here:
