Perfectly captures a California sunset. And bonus points for it being taken from John Wayne's old beach house! #LagunaBeach

Sometimes smaller "boutique" hotels get a little outdated and start to fee tired and dingy. Well not this place. They went thru a total modern renovation and all the rooms, bathrooms, and hotel facilities were clean and updated. Rooms decorated in white plus crisp colors reflect a wonderful beach vibe. Service at the hotel for check-in and check-out was excellent. Parking was fine but there was a charge which is not surprising in Laguna Beach. Pool was clean and well maintained. The hotel has free beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels for you to take to the beach just a short walk away. Tip: The entire downtown Laguna Beach is so close to this place, I walked everywhere with my wife.

+ clean and spacious rooms, + great customer service, - no real ocean view I had a great stay at the Cliffs Inn and was overtaken by the friendliness of the staff. I insisted of changing the room since the first one was located too close to HWY 1, which can be very busy in the morning. Without any hesitation I was given two alternatives to choose from. This positive comity lasted my whole stay. All rooms looked super clean and cozy. A nice touch is furthermore the folded towels that wait in each room; during my stay it was a swan. Although I really liked my stay I was missing the ocean view I expected by reading the rooms’ description online. I didn’t pay attention to the pictures during the booking so I was somewhat disappointed to only have windows next to the bathroom faucet facing the oceanfront partially. But this is my only complaint. The Inn is located on the shore side of HWY 1, one block away from Heisler Park. The park has a paved promenade that runs parallel to the shore down to the town’s center and is a must do while in Laguna Beach. The hotel offers free underground parking and Wifi. For breakfast they add a small basket in the rooms upon arrival. During check-in they treat you with some homemade cookies. I hope they have the chocolate cookies on the tray when you stay there. For everyone that set high value on customer service I suggest going with the Cliffs Inn over other accommodations in Laguna. In case you are looking for the full oceanfront experience I recommend booking another hotel instead, e.g. the Pacific Edge Hotel or Inn at Laguna Beach. + Great customer service + Large, clean rooms + One block from the shore, 10 min walking to town center + Best chocolate cookies ever - No balconies or unrestricted ocean view - Some rooms are very close to HWY 1

My fiancee and I are just about to check-out after a 9 day 8 night stay at Laguna Cliffs Inn. What can I say, we absolutely loved it. The Inn is quaint, clean, and very pretty. We stayed in room 204.. and Oceanview room on the top level. The view out of our window was somewhat small, but the shared balcony and incredible location made up for that easily. The Hot Tub and pool are small, but very nice, and we took advantage as much as we could with such a busy trip. The only minor issues would be that (I believe due to the age of the building) the walls can feel thin at times and noise does easily travel. That being said, it was never a major issue our entire stay. The other little issue was our keys did not consistently work and we had to keep go getting more made.... again.... a luxury problem at best. The continental breakfast in our rooms (restocked everyday) was a great treat for people trying to pack in as much as they could on their trip (ie always on the move.) Coffee Bean coffee in the lobby, fresh fruit, and other goodies were also just simple, but excellent little perks. The Inn's proximity to the ocean, downtown, and the parks is just incredible.. AND there is free parking, which we have learned in Laguna is kinda a big deal. The absolute best part of the Inn are the staff. They are incredibly kind and immensely helpful. We were at the Inn during XMAS, and could not have felt more welcomed and comfortable. The front desk worker John, in particular, went above and beyond to make our trip more enjoyable... (I also saw him make a cup of hot chocolate for a little girl who was staying at the inn as well... which was beyond adorable and awesome.) Whether it was setting up rentals last minute for us to try paddleboarding, letting us ship things to the inn (and then when it arrives calling us and putting it in our rooms,) giving us extra beach chairs to use at Aliso Beach for non-guests, remaking keys for us (as mentioned earlier,) or just saying hi while we were grabbing coffee, the staff at Laguna Cliffs Inn are what turns this place from very nice, into absolutely wonderful. My fiancee is a Master's student and I work in Human Services, so we certainly do not have a tremendous amount of expendable finances. When I found this place online, the price seemed a little too good to be true... but... I was wrong. Not only did this place live up to the price... it exceeded it by leaps and bounds... and... we booked far enough in advance that there was a discount (if you book over a certain amount of days there is a discount as well.) Basically, we felt as if we were on a vacation that there would be no way we could actually afford. But not only could we afford it, we had plenty of extra money to mess around beautiful Orange County with. I do not write reviews... but his place was so great, I felt like I had to. We hope to be back (maybe every XMAS?) I COMPLETELY RECOMMEND this place! I just hope it stays somewhat a secret... because this place is a gem.

Extremely friendly staff and a very clean, welcoming property. Front desk was super helpful in guiding us to great places to eat and orienting us to the area in general. I'd give it 5 stars except I feel it is a little over-priced for a glorified motel and they charge you for parking, which always seems like a cheesy way for hotels to get a few extra bucks out of you. Overall, a great experience. Thanks for being part of the success of our 24 hour weekend getaway!

The rooms are clean and mediocre. The majority of the rooms do not have direct view of the beach, even though they are titled "coastal view" and are more expensive. We were woken by a phone call at 2:30 am. It could have been a prank by one of the other guests or a malfunction of the hotel's phone system. We complained at check out time and hopefully the phone system was fixed. Additional fees: $12 parking. Could have done without, there was plenty of street parking in front of the hotel. $8.10 for 2 wine glasses, which are offered in the afternoons and the hotel's website claims that they complimentary. "Beginning with complimentary coffee and croissants at daybreak, a nightly wine hour at sunset, to cookies and milk before bedtime, guests of Laguna Cliffs Inn are treated with all the comforts of home amidst the calming breeze of the Pacific Ocean" I contacted the hotel and was told that they will reverse the $8.10 charge. Such a shame, that management does not understand that they are losing repeat customers by these petty charges.

My wife and I went to Laguna Beach for a mini-moon after our wedding in mid-October, 2013. We had decided to stay here after reading many reviews online, and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The professional photographs aren't entirely accurate, but the room was nice and cozy. The view wasn't perfect, but it was nice for the very reasonable price. The staff at Laguna Cliffs Inn were very friendly and helpful. We would certainly stay here again.

Very comfortable with a great staff. Everything about the place is nice. Its only fault is that it lacks character. You'll be comfortable & you'll enjoy yourself, but may not remember the place very well later.
