This was an experience to go down in the books. Everything was fine upon check in. The staff was nice and helpful. We booked two adventures and proceeded to go about our day. We were told we would be contacted when the room was available. Once we were contacted we headed back to put our things in the room. We were settled into our room getting ready for our sunset sip and sail cruise when a random man with a key to our room busted in the door and then walked right back out after saying sorry. Then I got a message to my room instead of a phone call from the front desk. I checked the messages only there wasn't any. I then called the front desk and was immediately put on hold. I waited 10 minutes before hanging up. We were almost done getting ready so I figured I would stop at the front desk on the way out. I then got a strange knock on my door from one of the onsite employees who seemed to work in the juice bar. He asked me my name to verify who I was. After some more sketchy convo we were on our way before we were late and missed the cruise. Of course now I am very uncomfortable with leaving my belongings in the room. We come back to our room to check everything out and make sure nothing is gone before we go back out for the night only to find out that now my room key isn't working for MY room. I go to the front desk to ask what is going on. I tell the manager on duty a short synopsis of what went down who by the way was the biggest sweetheart in all of this and not the original manager who I initially came in contact with upon arrival. I find out he has no idea about a random person walking in my room but the guy from the juice bar was supposedly the one looking into it. All in all very sketchy. Was going to extend the stay but after all that had transpired I didn't even feel safe staying there for the one night but I had already spent $426 on a room and had no choice. I will never stay here again and will never recommend it to anyone. I thought with a name like Crowne Plaza backing it up that I would be fine. Very disappointed.

Well, where do I start, we pulled up, and we're actually flat out ignored even after filling the bell cart with our luggage ourselves and requesting attention, but they took their sweet time helping us even though when we pulled up there was no one else, but soon there were 5 others, whom were all promptly greeted. Oh, but not us, of course not.... Upon getting to the room, we were met with a very pungent musty odor that took several hours to get used to. I noticed that there are also what looked to be someone nasty hand prints smeared all over the ceiling above our king bed, not to mention the overall dirtiness of room 221's walls. Upon further inspection, I also was greeted with someone else's 16'' blonde hair stuck to the inside of the shower, not to mention the really shitty half ass job someone did to repair the water damage on the ceiling above it coupled with the nice hole in the ceiling around the support for it. I then noticed the nice nest of hair between the shower and toilet, they can keep that for the next guest. I then pulled a towel off the shelf and that too had, *gasp*, some strangers hair on it! Also, the door latch is broken in half, but thankfully at least functions.... Oh and how could I forget the squeaking humming fridge at the foot of the bed! Oh yeah, and it hasn't been dusted in places like said photo frames... Or the headboard in at least 6 months if I had to guess. This room has about a hundred dollar view of the parking lot featuring what I'd guess is drunk people... Yelling.... Spend your 200$ somewhere else, trust me. I could keep listing things... Like the smudges of God knows what on the picture frame next to the bed...... Yeah. Go somewhere else.

Response from the owner - 7 months ago
Hello Zach! We are happy you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you for taking the time to write a review, While working here I haven't seen any hauntings but we are in Key West so even if there are ghost I am sure they are just sitting around with a cocktail in their hand. We hope you return back to the hotel soon and if you would like to talk more about the haunting issue or anything else you experienced during your stay, we would love to hear about it so please reach out to me directly at (305) 296-2991. Have a wonderful day! Thank you Michael Weber, General Manager!

We spent a week at the La Concha in one of the 2nd floor balcony rooms. The rooms are small but clean and decently furnished. The balcony is nice for sitting out in the evening and watching the show go by. Nice bathroom, fridge, room safe and big screen TV. We found the service to be very friendly and helpful. With the rooms facing Duval Street there is bound to be noise - but nothing that wasn't remedied by a set of earplugs. Great central location. The top of the 7th floor offers a bar and unbeatable view of the nightly sunset. The pool is well maintained and not very busy with a nearby outdoor bar. I'd stay here again if I return to Key West.

Pricey, old building, and bad service, but this is the normal in Key West. A shame for a brand like Crowne. The breakfast at the lobby was one of the worst experience ever. It took one hour asking to be seated and served. No attention and I just gave up and went the Starbucks. Do not book the breakfast, it is a real trap.

My wife and I stayed here the last weekend in Sept. We selected it because it is close to the action on Duval. It is all redone and the facilities are beautiful. The staff was somewhat shaky as they just recently opened but everyone was accommodating and helpful and the facilities were very clean. The issues were : the rooms were very small and there was no dresser to put clothes into; the thermostat did not work and we spent the weekend in an ice box, it was cold; the bathroom was so tiny you could hardly turn around in it. I could sit on the pot, shave and brush my teeth all at the same time. The bed was fantastic and it was very quiet . Unfortunately the bar closed at 9:00. Take your pick, stay close to the action and put up with a few issues at a decent price for the location or get some place out of town with nice large rooms, etc. and cab it in and out. We are moving on to a different location next time.

This is a really nice hotel in a very good location. The room was modern, clean and not worn. We had more than enough of space. Our kids loved the pool area and because of the low season it was not crowded. The only drawback was that they charged my credit card for incidentals and it took 4 days until I got the money back. Parking is $20, it's a little expensive but with very friendly staff, and because of the location of the hotel I still find this acceptable. The list price shown here looks expensive, we got a more reasonable price when booking through our travel agency.

My husband and I stayed at this location on Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday May 23 and when we checked in the air conditoner was not working. We were told that it would be working with 4-5 hours. We went out to do some sightseeing and when we arrived back at 6:00 it still was not fixed and it had been almost 6 hours. They then told us that it would be working by the time we got back from our Ghost Tour and once again it was not fixed. We asked for a different room and were told that the entire hotel was having problems. We found out the next day when talking to other guests at the pool that this was not true, that they had perfect air conditioning. When we still did not have air conditioning that night we were told that one night of our stay would not be charged. I just got my credit card statement in the mail and we were charged for both nights! Two separate charges even, so I know it was not simply that they did not take the one night off. When I called the hotel to ask about the issue the lady was not very nice and when I asked that this matter be taken care of as soon as possible she hung up on me. The saga shall continue as we get more information. Hopefully things will improve for them, but somehow I don't think so. As of 6:30 EDST the hotel says they have reversed the charge for the one night. I hope that this is true as I would hate to have to return to this review and state that it hadn't been done. I still say this should never have been a problem.
