My last solo adventure was about a month ago and I have been taking my time processing the images. I love how incredibly green the canyon is this time of year. In the future I plan to hit this location again to hopefully catch some color in the sky.

I typically don't have a location or plan in mind when I go shoot. I usually just chase the clouds and end up where I think I'll find something interesting. This was one of those "let's go drive around and see what I can find" evenings. Enjoy your Monday!

I journeyed to the other side of the island this past weekend for a little photography adventure. My last stop of the day was to photograph the Waimea Pier.

I admittedly do not get up to shoot sunrise often enough. This was the last sunrise I shot and it was from.. months ago.. oops. Have a great Friday!

In The Spotlight
The sun broke through a heavy cloud cover blasting beams of light across the bay. Luckily the waves were decent that day as well.

Right As Rain
It usually always rains right before sunset. On this particular day it was dumping across the bay while it was completely dry where I was at. Have a great Friday!

This was my first time ever seeing a sun pillar, which is extremely rare out here on the islands. Apparently I was in the right location as the pillar shot up right out of Mt. Makana!

Canyon Mist
I took a day trip adventure and ended up at Waimea Canyon. The goal was to try my new 100-400mm lens and figured there would be copious opportunities to experiment on the west side of the island. Pulling over on the side of the road, I noticed the rain far off down a side valley and took a few quick shots.

When the sky became brighter after the sun dropped below the horizon I knew it was going to be a crazy sunset. I previously found these two shelf rocks far down the beach, positioned myself, and waited for natures show to begin.

Twice The Luck
The rainbows seemed to follow me from Kauai out to Yosemite. A quick stop on the side of the road on the way back to our campground led to this pleasant surprise.

Story
Introduction

I grew up in a small farm town on the Central Coast of California. In college I majored in Graphic Communications, yet found myself working in the Finance industry for 8 years in San Diego. My father had given me his hand-me-down camera so out of the need to fill my life with creativity I started taking classes in 2008. I found San Diego based In Focus Learning Center and completed six classes learning how to find my creative vision. From there I never looked back.

The major turning point for me was in April 2012 during a family vacation to Kauai. I decided to rent my own car and spend the entire week photographing the island from sunrise to sunset every day. It was a life changing experience. I decided at that time I wanted to move to the island and 6 months later that dream came true. When I don’t have a camera in hand, you can find me hiking with friends, camping, in the yoga studio, or running.
