It usually always rains right before sunset. On this particular day it was dumping across the bay while it was completely dry where I was at. Have a great Friday!
Found this happy spider deep in the jungle of Kōkeʻe State Park. It was about the size of my hand relaxing in its web above our heads. It appears to be a variety of Argiope Aurantia; however difficult to identify as I only found three other photos of it on the internet.
The sun briefly popped through the clouds during a break in a passing storm. Light beams shot out like spotlights across the sky and quickly faded away as it started to downpour. I was lucky to catch a bit of color and reflection in the water as the sun went down.
I grew up in a small farm town on the Central Coast of California. In college I majored in Graphic Communications, yet found myself working in the Finance industry for 8 years in San Diego. My father had given me his hand-me-down camera so out of the need to fill my life with creativity I started taking classes in 2008. I found San Diego based In Focus Learning Center and completed six classes learning how to find my creative vision. From there I never looked back.
The major turning point for me was in April 2012 during a family vacation to Kauai. I decided to rent my own car and spend the entire week photographing the island from sunrise to sunset every day. It was a life changing experience. I decided at that time I wanted to move to the island and 6 months later that dream came true. When I don’t have a camera in hand, you can find me hiking with friends, camping, in the yoga studio, or running.
