It usually always rains right before sunset. On this particular day it was dumping across the bay while it was completely dry where I was at. Have a great Friday!
I took a day trip adventure and ended up at Waimea Canyon. The goal was to try my new 100-400mm lens and figured there would be copious opportunities to experiment on the west side of the island. Pulling over on the side of the road, I noticed the rain far off down a side valley and took a few quick shots.
I grew up in a small farm town on the Central Coast of California. In college I majored in Graphic Communications, yet found myself working in the Finance industry for 8 years in San Diego. My father had given me his hand-me-down camera so out of the need to fill my life with creativity I started taking classes in 2008. I found San Diego based In Focus Learning Center and completed six classes learning how to find my creative vision. From there I never looked back.
The major turning point for me was in April 2012 during a family vacation to Kauai. I decided to rent my own car and spend the entire week photographing the island from sunrise to sunset every day. It was a life changing experience. I decided at that time I wanted to move to the island and 6 months later that dream came true. When I don’t have a camera in hand, you can find me hiking with friends, camping, in the yoga studio, or running.
