Waimea Pier
I went camping on the other side of the island for a friends birthday party a few weekends ago. We made the decision to photograph sunset at the Waimea Pier on the way back to the north side of the island. I love the powdery feel of the black sand between my toes!

Serendipity
Winter season on Kauai translates to large ocean swells and slightly cooler temperatures. When the first large swell passed through the islands I embarked on my inaugural wave hunting expedition. It's a tricky dance of timing, being patient, and juggling settings on the camera. Every wave that explodes into the air is uniquely defined by its environment.

Kraken
Winter season means big waves on Kauai and slightly cooler temperatures. Thought that I would share one from my latest wave hunting expedition.

Twilight is a fun time to shoot. Admittedly I don't usually stay out by myself when it starts to get dark. Need to start doing that more.

Before The Gates
The Man pops out of a dust storm to announce his presence to the bicyclists parked outside his gates.  This photo is my personal favorite from my first trip to Burning Man. It was a very dusty, adventurous day.

Swells!
It's big swell time on island finally. Lots of fun water pictures in the future. This was from two weeks ago. Had the beach all to myself.

Freedom
Was photographing down the coast the other night and a person decided to walk out onto the rocks during low tide. The incredible view was complemented by their elation of the beautiful sunset light.

Hydrangeas
On a recent trip to Kokee I was surprised to see a ton of hydrangeas around our cabin site. I didn't bring my extension tubes so had to settle with flipping my 50mm and having very little depth of field.

Story
Introduction

I grew up in a small farm town on the Central Coast of California. In college I majored in Graphic Communications, yet found myself working in the Finance industry for 8 years in San Diego. My father had given me his hand-me-down camera so out of the need to fill my life with creativity I started taking classes in 2008. I found San Diego based In Focus Learning Center and completed six classes learning how to find my creative vision. From there I never looked back.

The major turning point for me was in April 2012 during a family vacation to Kauai. I decided to rent my own car and spend the entire week photographing the island from sunrise to sunset every day. It was a life changing experience. I decided at that time I wanted to move to the island and 6 months later that dream came true. When I don’t have a camera in hand, you can find me hiking with friends, camping, in the yoga studio, or running.
