I am in need of your help - while FEMA has been providing disaster relief to thousands of people in the island, the help hasn't reached everyone. People like me have been struggling to survive every day. Right now I'm close to the goal set in order to make the move to Atlanta, I'm a little over $800 away from it - can you please help me move to a better place, where I'll be able to find a job to provide for my (fur) family? thank you! #PuertoRico #HurricaneMaria #donation #SeasonGiving #Help

With everything still going on in Puerto Rico, I can't wait for FEMA or any other governmental agency (be it local, federal or central) to help - so I am reaching out to you, and hope that you will be able to help me make this move by donating anything you can $10, $20...anything #PuertoRico #huracanMaria #hurricanemaria #help #GoFundMe

"There’s something about a powerful woman using her voice—and in a way that is not gentle or measured but bold and pointed—that still doesn’t sit well with the general public. (See: Clinton openly threatened with cries of “lock her up” to this day at Trump rallies; being called a “nasty woman.”) In spite of her achievements—and likely because of them"

Photography and short film intensive workshop (youth)

Throughout my time as a journalist I’ve seen children and young people thrive in the least expected situations and it’s inspiring to see how, even in the most adverse situations, they continue to be hungry to learn, create and absorb everything around them. I’ve been equally inspired by young people whose resources are not as limited, but still don’t have access to classes focusing on photography, film, and writing specifically for them – which is why I decided to partner up with Cottage Class to bring a creative outlet to those young people who are interested in exploring these art forms.

Being passionate about photography and film at an early age (since I was in diapers actually) I remember following my father around and be his ‘little assistant’ as he developed his photographs in the dark room in our Manhattan apartment, and help him come up with new ideas for photo essays as well as short stories. When I was a pre-teen he introduced me to the magic of movies and I haven’t been the same since. This, the same eager feeling I had as a young girl who dissected all the “special features” and ‘making-of’ each movie I watched, the feeling of finding the right photo to convey the perfect message of hope, love, excitement, confusion or any other strong emotion I was experiencing at the time, is what I hope to bring to my students, because photography and film can and are such amazing outlets of expression.

Film and photography have become an important part of how we communicate in today’s society, and I would like to help young people learn how to use these outlets properly to not only convey their stories – but open the door to so many more possibilities!

For more information on the class, about me or to sign up for my first workshop in NYC please check out the listed afterschool program here:

Let's be brave and recognize that men can, and have been victims of domestic violence, rape and child sexual abuse - they're also ridiculed when they decide to speak up about what was done to them. Let's break the chain. Watch #ForcedintoSilence on #YouTube #film #indie #movies #documentary

Men are often abused by their partners, they're raped and abused as children. Very Often they keep these traumas to themselves because of what society deems men to be like, while mocking them should they be brave enough to report their abusers. Watch my documentary to see what we can do in order to change who society deems as victims and what we can do to be more of an inclusive society towards trauma survivors #film #indie #documentary #ForcedintoSilence #YouTube #Free
