Not fair. Now we have to choose between a candidate who would destroy the world and one that will destroy democracy?

New media writer Clay Shirky took to Twitter Friday afternoon to dismiss white liberals' response to Donald Trump as ineffective and self-indulgent – and to rally them to defeat Trump.

Which context supposedly makes this okay?

Every one of his supporters will bend over backwards and turn off their brains to make excuses for him. This will be no different.

As long as he's vulgar and barbaric, they'll gladly march to WWIII at his whim.

Kerry ran on the strength of "Anyone but Bush". That was a losing argument.

Clinton is currently running as "Anyone but Trump". I expect this is also a loser.

It's just remotely possible that running a campaign that's an affirmation of positive values rather than merely playing the loyal opposition has value here.

The campaign needs to change or the candidate does.

quote: After watching the Republican National Committee’s convention this week, I think I’ve figured out what’s going on.

The problem is that Americans — and conservatives in particular — claim to want small, stingily funded government. But they’re making bigger (and more expensive, and less legally achievable) demands about what government should be responsible for.

This cognitive dissonance inevitably leads to disillusionment.

In other words: Deep down, Republicans want a nanny state, but they just can’t bring themselves to admit it.

What kind of nanny state do these alleged fans of limited government desire? The kind that fulfills their wildest fantasies, yes, but more importantly that cocoons their constituents from offense, discomfort and perhaps even financial distress.
Proponents of limited government can’t bring themselves to admit this uncomfortable truth.

Work is trying everything (except proper staffing) to deal with the fact that we're falling behind on work.

4 years ago we switched to a new process and were warned it would take 3-5 times as long as the old process to get through the same workload.

In the meantime they've increased the workload, expanded the 15 person team with two infusions of 15 part-time helpers borrowed from other areas that already had full-time work of their own and are continually surprised when 45 part-timers can't finish the work of 45-75 full-timers.

When I ask for the distinction between two identical things I'm meant to sort, the answer is invariably an insistence that they are different without any explanation of the differences.

This is infuriating and unproductive.

Linux Journal readers and users of Tor and Tails are labelled as extremists by the NSA. Members of the Tor community and users who searched Tails or Tor had IP addresses flagged for surveillance.

Philandro Castile

Never was in trouble with the law.

Worked hard, and had moved up to a supervisory position.

Was well liked and respected at his job.

No mug shots, no history of gang affiliation.

Was legally carrying a weapon.

Told the officer like he was supposed to.

Died.

His sin?  Living as a good man while black.

My sons are the best ever.
We came for a timeshare presentation and associates freebies. We enjoyed our time at the pool. The television in the room was a little odd. The service they subscribe to doesn't limit the guide listings to channels that are actually available and premium channels are mixed, HBO works but the HBO sibling channels don't, that sort of thing. It's not bad but it took awhile to figure out what was going to work and what wasn't. We tried only the lava cake and the queso sticks from the food available buy they were both reasonably good. It's hard to comment on price or value because this was a freebie but it was a good stay overall.

We had a house salad and a roll your own combo pizza. The salad was huge and amazing. The crust is a super thin cracker with just the right amount of sauce which is itself not stellar but is a great complement to any toppings you please. The server took extra care that my two year old son was taken care of with refills for his water and extra plates for each course. We'll be back regularly.

I've always gotten what I've ordered but for some reason this location is always ridiculously slow. A single combo meal has taken as long as 15 minutes to get delivered to the drive-through window. I live nearby and I'm not in a hurry when I go through so it's only a nuisance but it's totally baffling that no matter what time of day you show up, they're understaffed or understocked or something which requires 10 minutes to fix.
