+Craig Popovich Just a Phantom I, but I have a Gopro Hero 3+ attached to it for video - I plan on getting a gimbal one of these days to smooth out the video and allow me to change angle on the fly, but I've been cheap so I haven't picked one up yet.

The app is great - I was able to download immediately and I can't wait to use it.

Works flawlessly straight from the camera, but I have a few tiny issues with the app when I process external videos.

First off, I'm using a Nexus 5, if that matters.

Ok, Issue 1 (More like a suggestion) - since it takes long to import and process a file (it took about 15 minutes total for a GoPro video I shot), it'd be nice to have an ongoing status in the notification bar when processing is taking place - it continued to work in the background, but there was no notification that anything was happening until I brought up the app again.

Issue 2 - After the initial import takes place, the speed-up started processing. It worked fine, but this time, when I backed out to do something else, I went back into the app to find a black screen. I let it sit for as long as I thought it needed to process fully, then I had to force exit from the app. It had processed completely, I was just unaware since nothing was popping up on the screen.

Related to that last issue, the second time I processed a video from my GoPro, I left the screen on the whole time and it was stuck on 99% for quite a long time before finally rolling over to 100% and giving me the option to share my file.

Other than that, it's working great. Thanks for creating such a neat tool for us!

It's a bit weird being eight floors up in a room with no walls.

Urbex at its best, going into places where not many dare to go.

Finally got some shots up from the Kishi Bashi/Guster concert I shot a few weeks ago. It was a fun one - can't wait to catch Kishi Bashi when he comes back to the area.

It's a long way down - shot in the elevator shaft from the sixth floor of an abandoned eight-story apartment building.

Finally edited a video of a drone flight in Chicago this weekend with friends. I apologize for the awful edit job, I'm bad at this. Change it to 1080p60 with the little gear setting and it'll look better.
Youtube is transcoding it at the moment, so higher resolutions might not work right away.

Just a few clips from my drone/GoPro with family and friends taken during the week - still nothing super exciting, just a few locations around Portage including Imagination Glen and Woodland Park.

Was able to try it my new gadgets today. A GoPro, thanks to Elise, and my new Phantom DJI 1, thanks to my Mom. I don't have a gimbal yet, so the video was a bit shaky. That said, it was really cool seeing some familiar places from vantage points that would have otherwise been totally impossible.

Here are a few clips from the day - the first few were from a flight at Imagination Glen, the second was at the Lakefront and Riverwalk in Portage. Make sure you change it to 1080p60, if you can. It'll look nicer that way.

Thanks for the tip, +Karl Herr  - I'm actually having no problems at all flying it - my only "issue" is that my technique is pretty nauseating as filming goes, so If I'm taking video I have to tone it down a bit, haha.

My biggest initial problem was that I was taking off too slowly (since I was used to flying the CX-10 inside). The GPS/gyro would kick in and try to compensate, flipping the whole rig over. Now that I know to put it up to 50% immediately to get a hover and then go from there, I haven't had any problems. The landing in the video was a bit rough, but I've since adjusted how slow I come in.

I practiced on a crappy little Cheerson CX-10 for a few months - it sounds silly, but it apparently worked to at least get my mind in the right place and the Phantom is infinitely easier to maintain control of.

Took a few photos of a march for LGBT equality in Indiana a few days back - we're not all bad, there are plenty of people fighting against the RFRA!

I was excited to learn that I'd been assigned by the Post Tribune to shoot a Valparaiso University-led march against RFRA yesterday – the day was beautiful and the turnout was even larger than I'd expected. Over 200 people showed up to march nearly two miles to Valparaiso's city hall in order to ...

Pretty great venue for local bands. I regularly see Paper Thick Wells, a locla band, there. The acoustics and lighting are pretty decent, sometimes even better than some larger venues. The location is a bit crowded, but it's not impossible to find parking on busy days. Plenty of standing room for enjoying whatever band is performing.

Really tasty omelets. I like the asparagus myself and the wait is pretty short, even on busy days.

Pretty great burgers without the wait of Kuma's Corner. Love the variety and they have a whole slew of flavored fries to get.

One of my favorite Thai restaurants in Chicago. Well-priced and big portions. Also a decent selection of sushi.

It's like Kuma's Corner, but for hot dogs. Get the duck fat fries.

Some of the best hamburgers I've ever had in my life. Plague Bringer is in the top running for my favorite hamburger of all time. The prezel bun makes all the difference. A little loud and crowded, so if you're not into that you're gonna have to power through it, but even if you're not into that kind of thing it's totally worth it for the experience.
