Welcome to the Hermes Crossfit 'stache bash for #Movember ! This is an open WOD for local #CrossFit   athletes. Due to the strenuous nature of crossfit, athletes MUST have at least three months of experience in order to be able to participate.

The event will be held at our new location adjacent to the Springville/Spanish Fork Airport (just around the corner and up the street from our old location). The address is:

281 W. 2050 N.
Spanish Fork, UT 84660

Pertinent info:

* The WOD starts at 7:30 PM, but registration starts at 7:00 PM

* The cost to participate will be $25, which gets you an awesome t-shirt, the profits from which will go to Movember!

* There is no cost to attend, but we would appreciate if people would donate to attend. There will be a donation table at the entrance and all donations will go to Movembe.

* Additionally, we will sell Hermes Crossfit 'stache bash shirts with a customized logo to commemorate the event - all profits will be donated to Movember! All t-shirts come with 3 free introductory crossfit classes and $25 off your 1st month's membership (a $75 value for the two)!

We highly encourage other boxes to create their own Movember teams and show up with some gnarly facial hair!!! See if you have what it takes to compete with the Hermes Crossfit team Mo' Kettlebell!

Thanks to David and Angie Goodwin of Hermes Crossfit for sponsoring the team and agreeing to host the event! Also, thanks to Darren Farnes for creating a custom logo for team Mo' Kettlebell!

This #Movember , help me raise money for men's health research (prostate and testicular cancer and mental health) and awareness!

You can donate at:

http://mobro.co/kurtreinhardt
http://moteam.co/hermes-crossfit-mo-kettlebell

Also, we're selling these awesome shirts (yes, that's actually me) for $25, the profits from which will go to Movember.  For the cost of the shirt, Utah County locals also get three introductory CrossFit classes ($50 at our gym, more at others) and the cost of the shirt off your 1st month's membership!  It's a great deal!  We're happy to sell the shirts to non-locals, too, as long as you pay the cost for shipping (so as not to eat into the donation).

FYI - if you're interested in CrossFit, but are unsure whether you can do it, here's my testimonial:

I started #CrossFit  at Hermes CrossFit in Spanish Fork, UT last April (2013).  At that time, I was the heaviest I'd ever been (~ 270 lbs.), had just recently applied for a new life insurance policy and had been denied the amount I requested due to the results of my lab work.

When I started, I almost threw up during the introductory warm up - not the actual work out, the warm up!  I was in terrible shape!  This from a guy who was active and incredibly skinny when I was younger and who let 20 years of inactivity pack on tons of fatty pounds.

During the last 7 months, I've changed my lifestyle completely. I eat #paleo  and work out at least 3 days a week.  Even when I travel for business, I try to get in at least 2 drop-in sessions at a local box.  7 months of (very) hard work later, I've lost at least 60 lbs of fat, have gone down 3 full pants sizes and wear large shirts instead of XL and 2XL. I also just had an annual exam, did lab work and everything came back perfect!

I'm not going to lie - it's not easy.  There is no magic pill to being in better shape.  I work hard at it and I'm still not strong enough to do some basic exercises as prescribed, but I'm happy with what I've accomplished and am excited to see what I can do next!

#Movember 30th! It's the last day! Team Mo' Kettlebell! @ Hermes #CrossFit still has a handful of t-shirts in various sizes (see profile picture) for $25, which gets you the shirt, 3 intro CrossFit classes, $25 off a month's membership and a voucher for a venti drink @ Starbucks in Spanish Fork or Orem!

It's a great deal for helping a great cause! If you want a shirt, please let me know!

p.s. if I get another $100 in donations through the website today, I'll keep my moustache for another month! If, somehow magically, I get $1k in donations, I'll keep it all year again! that's a big deal, it's already making me nuts!

Utah County Residents - check this out for an awesome Mother's Day activity!

Farm to Kids Cooking is a 2 day healthy cooking event- first class will be held Friday afternoon, May 10, 2013 from 3-4 pm and second class will be Saturday afternoon 11am - 12pm. To spice things up, the menu for Friday’s cooking class will differ from Saturday’s class. Both menus will be determined on what’s grown seasonally at La Nay Ferme.

We’ll use the freshest ingredients in our meals focusing on nutrient-dense produce
harvested right before class. Recipes are age-appropriate, teach basic nutrition, safe culinary skills and movement and are set at pace for both kids and parents to learn and have fun.

Choose the class you want to attend, or both if you’d like. RSVP online only by purchasing a ticket.

We've had four different cars serviced by Ron at Lowe Auto Repair over the last several years and he's always been honest, done good work and charged very reasonable prices. As an example, earlier this week I was quoted ~$844 from another shop in Springville to get my upper control arms and lower ball joints replaced in my truck. Of that, $476 was labor. Today, I got a quote from Ron for under $550, out the door, including parts and labor. ~$300 less than the other shop! That's huge! I've got an appointment scheduled next Wednesday to get the work done. Things you need to be aware of: 1) Ron ALWAYS keeps the parts he took out so he can show them to you and explain what was wrong with them before you leave. I love it - very informative. 2) He's a character and somewhat cantankerous. Still, I've always found him friendly and honest. Even better, he's always treated the women in our family fairly when they've brought cars in for server. By comparison, my teenage daughter and a friend took a car to another shop in Provo and were quoted absolutely outrageous prices for repairs Ron would have charged hundreds less for. 3) Lowe Auto Repair only accepts cash and checks, no credit cards.

Several of our family members have been going to Dr. Stapel for years for various issues ranging from injuries to just periodic "tune-ups". He's a great guy and an excellent chiropractor!

Discovered Drew last year and have been going back ever since. I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else unless I had no other choice. I've taken my son there for his first authentic, (neo) old school barber cut and straight razor neck shave and even my teenage daughter to hang out while I've had my hair cut. We all love it! Why? Because going to Danburry is about more than just getting a haircut. It's an experience that has been created masterfully by Drew. His attention to detail is in everything: the decor, atmosphere, the cuts and shaves, the pool table on the second level, everything. Danburry Barbershop is a place to get a great cut and shave, have excellent, intelligent and sometimes eclectic conversations, listen to great music (last time I was in, we actually listed to a biography on Noam Chomsky, not music!), meet new, interesting people and rack up a quick game of nine-ball. FYI - he's pretty popular. You might get lucky if you just walk in, but he's started using online scheduling through schedulicity in the last few weeks. Even then, there's still plenty of opportunity to hang out! As for the cost? It's well worth it, as far as I'm concerned. Don't be a cheapskate! Treat yourself!
