The event will be held at our new location adjacent to the Springville/Spanish Fork Airport (just around the corner and up the street from our old location). The address is:
281 W. 2050 N.
Spanish Fork, UT 84660
* The WOD starts at 7:30 PM, but registration starts at 7:00 PM
* The cost to participate will be $25, which gets you an awesome t-shirt, the profits from which will go to Movember!
* There is no cost to attend, but we would appreciate if people would donate to attend. There will be a donation table at the entrance and all donations will go to Movembe.
* Additionally, we will sell Hermes Crossfit 'stache bash shirts with a customized logo to commemorate the event - all profits will be donated to Movember! All t-shirts come with 3 free introductory crossfit classes and $25 off your 1st month's membership (a $75 value for the two)!
We highly encourage other boxes to create their own Movember teams and show up with some gnarly facial hair!!! See if you have what it takes to compete with the Hermes Crossfit team Mo' Kettlebell!
Thanks to David and Angie Goodwin of Hermes Crossfit for sponsoring the team and agreeing to host the event! Also, thanks to Darren Farnes for creating a custom logo for team Mo' Kettlebell!
You can donate at:
Also, we're selling these awesome shirts (yes, that's actually me) for $25, the profits from which will go to Movember. For the cost of the shirt, Utah County locals also get three introductory CrossFit classes ($50 at our gym, more at others) and the cost of the shirt off your 1st month's membership! It's a great deal! We're happy to sell the shirts to non-locals, too, as long as you pay the cost for shipping (so as not to eat into the donation).
FYI - if you're interested in CrossFit, but are unsure whether you can do it, here's my testimonial:
I started #CrossFit at Hermes CrossFit in Spanish Fork, UT last April (2013). At that time, I was the heaviest I'd ever been (~ 270 lbs.), had just recently applied for a new life insurance policy and had been denied the amount I requested due to the results of my lab work.
When I started, I almost threw up during the introductory warm up - not the actual work out, the warm up! I was in terrible shape! This from a guy who was active and incredibly skinny when I was younger and who let 20 years of inactivity pack on tons of fatty pounds.
During the last 7 months, I've changed my lifestyle completely. I eat #paleo and work out at least 3 days a week. Even when I travel for business, I try to get in at least 2 drop-in sessions at a local box. 7 months of (very) hard work later, I've lost at least 60 lbs of fat, have gone down 3 full pants sizes and wear large shirts instead of XL and 2XL. I also just had an annual exam, did lab work and everything came back perfect!
I'm not going to lie - it's not easy. There is no magic pill to being in better shape. I work hard at it and I'm still not strong enough to do some basic exercises as prescribed, but I'm happy with what I've accomplished and am excited to see what I can do next!
It's a great deal for helping a great cause! If you want a shirt, please let me know!
p.s. if I get another $100 in donations through the website today, I'll keep my moustache for another month! If, somehow magically, I get $1k in donations, I'll keep it all year again! that's a big deal, it's already making me nuts!
