Picture a swarm of these coming at you. A nontrivial target, even for a well-defended target.

Knowledge-Based Approach of Building Plan Checker System Using CAD

ABSTRACT "Current plan checking process has been a tedious and time consuming process for developers and local authorities with many errors and problems. This may result to a late of building development progress and can cost a big number amount of money. The aim of this research is to build a software information system that integrates development plan using computer-aided design (CAD) and to evaluate the development plan according to the standards. The compliance plan will be stored into knowledge-based repository for use by other local authorities for checking purposes. This building plan checking system (BPCS) will also acts as a repository for the development plan configuration standards in the data processing system. BPCS also serves as an assessor for the building components in the development plan to determine compliance of the development plan configuration with the development plan configuration standards using in the system."

"Debate over the Patriot Act often seems to suggest that mass surveillance comes primarily from Section 215. But other, less-known programs actually account for most of the metadata collected. American University law professor Stephen Vladeck tells Brooke about how two other surveillance authorities — Executive Order 12333, and Section 702 of FISA — persist, and how real issues with government surveillance stem from lack of oversight. "Due Process for #bigdata" + algorthmic discrimination @sciencefriday @katecrawford @geomblog http://bit.ly/1S9qU1T

"Some believers in big data have claimed that, in big data sets, “the numbers speak for themselves.” Or in other words, the more data available to them, the closer machines can get to achieving objectivity in their decision-making. But data researcher Kate Crawford says that’s not always the case, because big data sets can perpetuate the same biases present in our culture, teaching machines to discriminate when scanning resumes or approving loans, for example."
