Most definitely we need love in our lives to appreciate anything else at all. Chocolate would taste like dust if we never knew love other than that of chocolate. Birds chirping and sunrises would be nothing without love. Great post! And thanks for joining!

Great list, Vickie! Your #1 is so close to my heart as is DC saying "Good morning Mom" and your bed bugs ritual. That's the stuff of stories and memories that stay with a family forever. I had to chuckle about your "cheaters" and how they always end up in the same place. My problem is long-distance with sight so I have a pair in my purse that I never really wear and the two times I needed them to drive at night, I'd taken another purse because OF COURSE. So glad you linked up with FTSF!

Wow what a year! I need to go back and read some of the posts I missed. I'm sorry you've spent so much time (and DC too) at the dentist's this year. I had that last year and UGH, I hate spending money on things like that. Painful anxiety-inducing things that also cost money!
I'm with you on continuing to call representatives for sure and so hope that the $12000 stays with you and DC!

Oh wow. There's so much I want to say about this. First, I felt that shyness and wanting nobody to look at me forever, too. My son, he's there as well and I'm a little bit shattered that he is 8 and knows these truths, already. I was a skinny kid but felt the same shame of don't see me... all of that. My boy? He's 8 but is one of "the fat kids." GAH. I don't even know how to help. Our bodies are beautiful, and I'm so sorry you went though this!

I do think of you as the voice of a parent raising a son who is older than 21, and am fearful of what happens to all of our sons and daughters in a world without us... having special needs makes it so much more of a challenging question. While what Tucker "has" isn't exactly autism, that's what everybody thought it was for a long time, and it's very close, and still a possibility, I very much appreciate insight that parents have for what happens "next." But also agree that in third grade (which feels old to me!), we're so focused on IEPs and what's next, that it's hard to worry (or easier to not worry maybe) about the Next Next, if that makes sense. So glad you write, have a blog, and that I know you!

The way that humans come together to rebuild after a natural disaster is truly awe-inspiring and wonderful. It shows who we really are, I think. Thanks for linking up! xo

Some pretty intense losses this summer. Here's why our family is looking for butterflies. xo

My husband and I keep reminding our son that someday, he's going to miss school. It's interesting, isn't it, how when we watch our own children grow and get back into a routine, that we remember our school days and summer breaks. I hope he has a great year (and you, too!).

That's too funny that DC was thinking the AC would be out of there when summer camp was over! But wait, it's 50 degrees outside and the AC is still on full-blast? Yikes, poor thing! We're in a town house so the lowest level is always freezing and the bedrooms hot so I have to blast the AC more too, so that I can sleep. Sigh. Thanks for joining!
