I removed/uninstalled Kscreen itself, after a couple of boots it looks like is keeping the screens, but can't tell yet since I just did it this morning.Sep 3, 2015
Do you have proprietary drivers installed? Think they can revert changes on login. My Kubuntu runs fine with extended screen on two monitors.Sep 6, 2015
+Criollo akaRJQuiraltæ Thanks for the tip - i did not work for me unfortunatelySep 7, 2015
+jonas larsson Tack! No I prefer not using fglrx drivers - though I did try to but it was not the solution to my problem, thanks!Sep 7, 2015
+Krister Hallergard That's too bad, but I am sure is kscreen the culprit, when uninstalled, also remove its configuration, use a new xorg config for your cloned screen, or you can always wait for the fix upstream.Sep 8, 2015
+Criollo akaRJQuiraltæ Yes I also think the problem is kscreen - it seems to me as it does not save the configuration properly.
I don't have a xorg.conf file as I am using the vanilla Gallium 0.4 on AMD Juniper. I do have bad previous experiences with fglrx so I am not very keen on it - but I did try it, and it did not solve my problem. This was with the Ubuntu fglrx - also tired but could not even install the AMD fglrx.
I will wait for the upstream fix.Sep 10, 2015
