The high number of immigrants living relatively quiet lives in the Great Lakes region tend to give rise to the most interesting immigration cases, oddly enough.
This is the saddest story ever. It really also shows some cognitive dissonance in our approach to immigration policy. For example, thousands of undocumented aliens have been given a chance to stay, and yet we see a situation here that may falsely indicate that certain immigrants are singled out and mistreated against the general backdrop of legalization of illegal immigration. Where is the consistent immigration policy on which citizens, residents, and immigrants may finally rely? I think we simply need a consistent immigration policy.
