+Wenzel Ablola I am well aware of how promotional materials like this are put out into the media. You have to dig deeper than the citations given. 
Most research for consumer products is at some level financed by private and vested interests. Very few studies or research is truly independent and objective. Usually the trail of financing and backing for research is hidden, so no, it would not appear to come directly from corporate or corporate associations backing. But if you dig deeper, they invariably do.
Furthermore, for all the studies cited for this list, there are an equal number (or near equal number) showing no benefit or possible harmful effects of coffee (I just recently happened to see such a meta-analysis of the studies).
Hey, don't get me wrong, I love my coffee. But claims that "x substance" is "one of the healthiest on the planet" and are "the best source of <insert allegedly beneficial ingredient>" seldom hold up to closer and properly rigorous examination.

Introduction
I'm a med student and certified personal trainer from Reykjavik, Iceland. 

My main interests in life are related to health and nutrition. You could say that it has become pretty much an obsession and I've spent the last few years reading blogs, books and research studies.

I run an evidence-based nutrition blog called Authority Nutrition. I write about health related topics from an evidence-based perspective every week.

The point of my website is to look through the literature to find evidence-based answers and solutions to common modern health problems, preferably from randomized controlled trials (the gold standard of research).

Then what I try to do is to decipher the scientific jargon and explain it in human terms, in language that both professionals and laypeople can understand.

I'm particularly interested in the low carb diet as a potential treatment for obesity, type II diabetes and metabolic syndrome... which are the biggest health problems in the world.

Other topics I cover on my site include weight loss, healthy eating, myth busting, food addiction, specific foods, sweeteners and whatever other health related topic I'm interested in exploring and discussing at the time.
