Report on Red Cross, Salvation Army, and our wonderful Government towards Volunteers trying to help in the Hayfork Trinity Fire Relief area.
#1. Bob Burroughs I think will vouch for me as will the Sheriff of every County in our area. I am an Individual who is always there when ever there is a Tragic or Disaster happening occurring. I have been a fund raiser since I left the U. S. Army in 1957.
#2. When ever anyone calls me, I am a Professional at getting things done and at collecting supplies. I have done it for situations all over the world. I have bailed the salvation Army , Red Cross, U. S . Marines Toys for Tots, and many other such organizations out when they fell short.
#3. Tuesday evening while on facebook.com
I received a Request from someone from Hayfork, Ca. saying they were out of Drinking water and wanted to know If there was anyway I could help? I run several different web sites on the Internet and am actually known world wide and I do help organizations World wide.
#4. I immediately called a supplier of water, Mt. Shasta Spring Water and talked to Bill the main manager and the Supervisor whom I also know and without Question, even though I am a Nobody without any Identification as a Fund Raiser or Licensed Charity they tell me the will have 1500 gallons of water all Palatalized and ready to go As soon as I arrive.
# 5. I try calling The American red Cross here in Shasta county which is a Big Joke, Nobody answers. I then call the 800 Number on the Internet and man they were ecstatic that I was doing this and man they were so happy. They called around and not even they could get the Shasta County office t answer. They then called Trinity County and said they was so happy I would be coming. Well I gas my 1901 V-10 Pickup up full, and hook on to my trailer and drive seven miles to the Water Company, They load the water and off I go on what was supposed to be about a 87 mile one way trip up and about a five to ten minute unloading and then back.
#6. I arrived two hours later and went to the most unorganized Red Cross Shelter Center I have ever went to in well over fifty years, Actually sixty years because as a teenager I was a Boy Scout as well as an Auxiliary Civil Defense Police Officer and later a Warden and squad leader. They had a woman who said she was the Director,But actually acted like she was just someone off of the street that knew nothing about Directing anything. God Bless her soul but she was there. There was a man in his early 60's who had every excuse in the world why they could not take the water It was not ordered, They could not unload it, they could not ask well boded HOMELESS Transients feeding off of the Salvation Army and Red Cross to help unload 30 5 gallon water bottles. They flat turned me down.
# 7. I then ask the Salvation Army if they would like to have the FREE WATER, and they said they did not have the Facilities to keep it. It was on a steel Rack Pallet and very easy to unload, But all wre very nice but in their70's and 80's trying to feed not people who were evacuated but Low life Tramps and street people. To lazy to even offer to help.
# 8. NOW YOU ARE GOING TO REALLY OPEN YOUR JAW I ALL!
Iwent to the Fire Staging Camp and the C. H. P. wanted my Pass Number, I was not going anywhere, That is what we always get from WOMEN C.H.P. Officer's who love to be big SHIT Officer's and she started getting Huffy with me and I flat told her, Mam if you do not get off your High Horse and stop shouting Orders I was going to call Jerry Brown whom I do know personally and turn her badge and car number in to him and I do carry his direct number with me at all times in my Cell phone.
#9. Then and only then did she allow me to go in and talk to a captain. He said I would have t go to the Supply Depot at the High School and talk to the Officer in charge. Well I then had to drive back where I had already been several times and look this man up. Well he wanted to know who ordered the water. He also wanted to know why it was not delivered on a Company Truck, Then he said the water was not certfied and I showed it was by the USDA and the State of California. Then he said it was against the California Laws for them to accept anything not ordered on a manuscript because of Liabilities. A bunch of B. S. because I am not a Virgin at this business I have been doing it longer than any of these people have been living.
# 10. He then sends me t the Lunch Room and said they wuld take it. Well the man in Charge there was sitting out in the tent and the receiving Clerk tried to talk to him three different times and he looked at me and not once came to talk to me. He then told the man to tell me if I bothered him again he would have me arrested for trespassing into an Emergency area. He did not want to be bothered anymore. I never even got to show my Papers of Delivery.
Now cmes the real fun part, I ran out of gas, with my pickup and a trailer full of water and one man came over and ask if he could help? The two of us pushed the loaded truck and trailer by hand into a Service station and This man who had just arrived from Virginia offered me $40.00 for gas. I told him noway was he going to buy me gas. He was a Disabled man who had just got back in town to help his family and he was on Social Security Disability and it was all the two of us disabled men could do to move that load. Well there were several Highway patrol, and Federal Police as well as deputies in cars to fuel up. I told them my situation so I was allowed to use my Credit Card and fuel up, and they told me to go down to the Sheriff's Office and explain my situation to them. I did and they said they had no idea where I should go, . I ask him are all of these Police cars local? He said no they were from all over and the command post was there. I ask him, Can you used the water? He studied a bit and said That they were supposed to have a requisition for anything they received.
I took the Under Sheriff who was in Command and several other ranking Officers off to the side and ask, You are all Law enforcement Officers right ? They all agreed. I told them right there you know If it weren't that Laws were made to be broke not one of you would have a job right? and they all agred. I told them, I break the Laws every time I help any one. I do not believe in having to buy a License to help people and now It was time to either break the Law or write me a Ticket. I was giving them the water Free, and all they had to do is sign they received it and would call me when the Bottles were empty ot write me a ticket,
You know it was a joy to see all of these Police officers, unloading all that water. And they were happy I brought it because of all the men and women there passing through.
