Did I mention I don't enjoy making the Scratchard sheath? It's really a pain in the butt. I started this one today, it feels like I've been working on it all day long. In reality, this is 4 hours worth of work. And I'm a little frustrated that not all of the holes went through straight. It's not so messed up that it merits starting over, so this one will just be a little imperfect. Proof that it's handcrafted.

Scratchard sheath work in progress pics: from marking the stitching line through dyeing.
They may be in reverse order, I haven't completely figured out my phone, lol.

What are all the holes for?

Well. Screws you can use to attach leather straps. Or lanyard/tiedowns. At the bottom, the screws in the holes prevent tlstab through in extreme impacts.

No such thing as too many clamps.

I just changed my wait time of 1-3 months to a "turn around time" of 1-3 weeks. Yikes! I just called in all my back orders from this last semester, so hopefully I can keep up with them all as they start rolling in :p.

A friend of mine made this tool stand for me! It is awesome, although it is not quite flat on the bottom - nothing a little sandpaper can't fix :).

I took a before and after picture of my leather projects this weekend. It was a long one - started on Thursday for me :-). Note there are still 5 blades I haven't started on yet...

The makings of a scratchard sheath. Did I mention I hate making this type of sheath? So much work to get the lines straight. Bah.

Two more sheaths out the door. These are both done in the walnut color. There is a Ranger sheath with a firesteel loop and a Mini-Explorer, both for non-koyote knives.

I recently had a sheath sent back to me for an adjustment/addition. The issue was that when the belt hanger was set on the highest setting, the knife handle would pull away from the belt.
The solution: a retention strap that fits around the handle and is attached to the belt hanger by a chicago screw! This way, if the guy changes his carry style, the new strap can be either removed or moved to different location. It is secure enough that the original retention strap isn't even necessary. (It is attached with a snap on the front AND the back, so it too is removable).

Fun with leather :).
