Standard Knee MRI sequences
Basically an MRI is an imaging 'slice', and slices are usually from side-to-side, front to back, or horizontal. Then contrast of the side-to-side ones can be altered by 'fat suppression'.

The word 'syndrome' means a group of clinical findings that tend to be associated with one another, and likely to have a common cause.

Putting trochlear dysplasia into context
Instability of the kneecap with pain in the front of the knee is a common knee disorder. Trochlear dysplasia may be a contributory factor, and patients need to know about it to ensure that it has been excluded in their diagnostic workup. This video gives a visual explanation of patellar tracking and the problems caused by trochlear dysplasia.

Why re-injury is common in CRPS patients
The cycle of injury, abnormal pain, skin (vascular) changes, nerve changes, bony changes, motion changes may lead to further incidents and expansion of the CRPS problems to other parts of the body.

Lateral Release - still being done for the wrong reasons?
The era of lateral release as a 'cure all' for patellar maltracking is over - the medical professionals now recognise only very specific indications for this procedure.

And where it might be indicated, it is giving way to the more-controlled 'lateral lengthening' procedure.
- still being done for the wrong reasons?

Plica of the knee can mimic other problems
Illustrations of the knee joint often omit the fact that the joint is encased in a waterproof capsule, the interior of which is lined by a layer of cells called the 'synovium'. Sometimes folds of synovium are present - lace-curtain-like remnants of the development of the knee in the foetus. These usually cause no problem, but sometimes they can catch between the bones and become symptomatic. The astute clinician must be aware of this, or else he/she may go hunting for other problems like a torn meniscus, because the plica can be a great mimic -

ACL Injury in Female Athletes
"ACL reconstruction is one of the most commonly performed procedures in orthopedic practice. Young athletes sustain ACL injuries requiring reconstruction at alarming rates. The ratio of ACL rupture in female athletes is three times more likely than in their male counterparts (Sutton, 2013). Additionally, females postoperatively are 15 times more likely to rupture the reconstructed knee within the first year, as compared to their male counterparts (Sutton, 2013)."
