Spreading the Kiva love! Fulgence owns a coffee processing station, Mugina Coffee Co, in Rwanda's Eastern Province. He thanks Kiva lenders for helping him build more drying tables -- nearly doubling his production capacity. With this increase, he will also create 30 new jobs for men and women from his community.

Sont oo Tehtwin, a new Kiva partner serving the poor in Myanmar, works with people living just across the river from downtown Yangon. This community still lacks access to basic services despite their proximity to the capital city.

Exciting news! Today, we’re proud to introduce a new look and feel for Kiva, and a new, mobile-responsive website that makes supporting small businesses around the world easier than ever.

Over the past 10 years, Kiva’s grown into a true global community, where people come together to support and believe in each other. Thank you for making Kiva a special, hopeful corner of the internet. We’re so excited to continue this journey with you! Check out the new site at kiva.org

Many lower income families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people like Alcinda in Mozambique access to the flexible capital they need to obtain or improve their homes.

Ressig is 88% of the way to completely repaying his loan! He used those Kiva funds to make improvements to the house he rents out in Panama. Floor tiles, a water reserve tank, and a new door will help secure his rental income and a safe home for someone his community.

Francis from Uganda requested a Kiva loan to help build his dream home. As part of that construction effort, he has also started a small garden where he grows cocoa, tea and vegetables. He plans to eventually expand his primary business, a retail shop, to include rental properties.

By funding partner EDESA, Kiva lenders are allowing the organization to reach extremely marginalized populations in Costa Rica than they would otherwise reach. Marcelina, for example, used her multiple Kiva loans to renovate her home and increase the number of hens she looks after.

Yuster from Uganda started out as a tea plucker and then decided to try her hand at tea farming. She used her first Kiva loan to buy green tea for planting. She now grows tea on a larger scale and recently took out a second Kiva loan to rent a tea plantation!

Verena is the group leader of Twigire, meaning “self-dependent”. The Rwandan group sells a variety of products. Verena, herself, has owned a shop for the past 6 years and used her loan to refill her store with rice, sugar, biscuits and other goods.

Kiva partner Fundación Mario Santo Domingo (FMSD) in northern Colombia runs a microfinance program to strengthen micro-businesses in the area. Fortunately, they operate offices near local communities they serve to provide financial and non-financial services (e.g. training, business plan consultation).

Marlene is a woman to be admired! Despite now only having one hand, she works fervently as a cheese producer to provide for herself and her student son in Costa Rica. Marlene used her Kiva loan to increase her cheese production and boost her income.

Empower people around the world with a $25 loan
Introduction
We are a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world.

We envision a world where all people - even in the most remote areas of the globe - hold the power to create opportunity for themselves and others.

We believe providing safe, affordable access to capital to those in need helps people create better lives for themselves and their families.
