A portion of Sheraton Group's $975 Kiva loan helped Rukia (center) in Tanzania increase her stock of chickens. This was Rukia's 20th loan! She uses the profits earned to repay her loan, buy food for her family, pay her children’s school fees and further invest in her business.

Jocelyne is an extremely hard working woman from Madagascar who makes and sells bricks for a living. She used her Kiva loan to buy a large quantity of rice bran, a key brick-making material, when bran prices were low. She hopes to eventually earn enough revenue to buy her own plot of land.

Empower people around the world with a $25 loan
Introduction
We are a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world.

We envision a world where all people - even in the most remote areas of the globe - hold the power to create opportunity for themselves and others.

We believe providing safe, affordable access to capital to those in need helps people create better lives for themselves and their families.
