Maya Yamato have proved how highly evolved, and advanced #whale and #dolphin hearing is. "“Our data shows us how whales defy the normal patterns of mammalian development," Yamato told HuffPost, "and successfully conquered the oceans -- which is amazing!” #ProtectWhales #Cetaceans
When it comes to hearing underwater, most mammals' ears just aren’t up to the task. For humans, it’s partly because the density of our eardrums is too close to the density of water, the Dartmouth Undergraduate Journal of Science report...

A new study led by scientists at the Universities of York and Exeter shows that female killer whales survive after menopause because they help their family members find food during hard times. This research provides insight into why women continue to live long after they can no longer have children. ‪#‎Blackfish‬ ‪#‎Dolphins‬ ‪#‎Whales‬ must be free!

Arctic: To Drill or Not To Drill, That Is The Question? The major oil company Royal Dutch Shell wants to drill in the Chukchi Sea this summer and that could, in the long term, spell doom for one of the last great, relatively untouched oceanic environments on the planet
the Chukchi Sea and the adjacent Beaufort Sea, off Arctic Alaska, and you can commonly spot ‪#‎bowhead‬, ‪#‎beluga‬, and grey whales there, while fin ‪#‎whales‬, ‪#‎minkes‬, ‪#‎humpbacks‬, ‪#‎orcas‬, and ‪#‎narwhals‬ are all venturing into these seas ever more often as the Arctic and its waters continue to warm rapidly. http://www.countercurrents.org/banerjee030315.htm ‪#‎StopBigOil‬
Arctic: To Drill or Not To Drill, That Is The Question By Subhankar Banerjee. 03 March, 2015 TomDispatch.com. Here's a Jeopardy!-style question for you: “Eight different species of whales can be seen in these two American seas.” Unless you're an Iñupiaq, a marine biologist, ...

Terrible and heartbreaking cetacean suffering. The emotional center of the dolphins big brain is 3 times the size of mans. We have know idea how far beyond man their brains have developed. Rather than treating these higher beings with respect humans demonstrate their heartless, crude, and barbaric side. Humans prove just how underdeveloped we truly are in this video and in videos of places like SeaWorld who profit from this hunt. My heart also goes out to these men who are forever damaged by this horrific and cold hearted behavior. Hunters are in a class of their own when it comes to empathy, or caring for another beings suffering. Sad for the dolphins, the hunters, and the twisted #IMATA  trainers who work side by side with the hunters. Taiji is Auschwitz for dolphins.

They may be the mightiest creatures in our seas, but whales, dolphins and the basking shark - the world's second biggest fish - are in trouble and badly need protecting in the UK's seas. ‪#‎Protect‬ ‪#‎Whales‬ ‪#‎dolphins‬ ‪#‎Cetaceans‬ ‪#‎Sharks‬ ‪#‎OceanLife‬
'Ocean giants' in our coastal waters are increasingly rare, writes Dr Lissa Batey, thanks to a host of threats from pollution to entrapment in fishing gear. Marine Protected Areas in England and Wales could help restore our cetaceans to their former abundance - but so far, only one has been designated for these species in Wales, and none in England.
