Exploiting SPARQL-FED via ODBC using Microsoft Access, Excel, and Google Spreadsheet

As stated in an earlier post [1], combining Open Database Connectivity with Linked Data (via SPARQL & SQL blending) is one of the most powerful showcases re., Linked Data's ability to move enterprises and individuals from database connectivity to InterWeb scale data connectivity, unobtrusively.

In a nutshell, any ODBC, JDBC, ADO.NET, OLE-DB, or XMLA compliant application can effectively exploit the burgeoning Linked Open Data (LOD) cloud and/or World Wide Web using long established RDBMS data access and interaction patterns.

In this post I've added a collection of screenshots showing the effects of using a single ODBC Data Source Name associated with a live Virtuoso instance. Courtesy of SPARQL and SPARQL-FED I am able to query data from anywhere, and in this case, I showcase access to Linked Data from .


1. Open ODBC compliant app.
2. Connect to ODBC Data Source Name (DSN).
3. Execute SPARQL Query .
4. Done!

Naturally, you can go one step further and simply paste a SPARQL-FED URL into a Google Spreadsheet:

Gracias por este software es fenomenal, si me gustaría le agregaran macros, con su respectivo lenguaje, grabar, editar, ayuda del lenguaje de macros, también la parte de consolidación y completar lo de tablas dinámica, en cuanto a la entrada de diferentes caracteres como por ejemplo el ALT 64 = @ sea para ingresar otros caracteres que están en el.teclado. Gracias
