Actor Jon Huertas, Kind Traveler's first user and celebrity ambassador, talks about why it feels good to travel kindly at the Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show. Huertas shares how booking a hotel on KindTraveler.com not only provided a way to score exclusive hotel rates that are as or more competitive than other leading travel sites with The Benjamin in NYC, but also how he was able to help provide meals to in-need New Yorkers with City Harvest.

Did you know that there are now 130 hotels, destinations, and charities that want to empower YOU to do good? Kind Traveler, the first socially-conscious hotel booking platform, celebrates its 1-year anniversary with special news: They’ve nearly tripled its hotel, destination, and charity selection with 57 hotels, 50 charities, and 23 destinations that have come together to inspire travelers with an easy way to make a positive difference to communities, the environment, and animals.

The way it works is simple: A $10 nightly donation to a charity that positively benefits the neighborhood you are traveling to, or to a favorite charity on the platform, unlocks an exclusive hotel rate. 100% of donations go to charity. The type of impact that can be made with $10 is impressive: $10 = 10 trees planted; $10 = 40 meals for in-need students; $10 = feeds 1 rescue animal for 30 days.

Global Green USA, a national leader in advancing sustainable and resilient communities, brought together the Hollywood community at its annual Pre-Oscar Party on Feb. 22, at the new Dream Hollywood, a Kind Hotel making its debut this spring. Known as the GREEN event of the year, it was a way to Stand with Standing Rock and celebrate environmental leaders working to protect the people, places, and planet in need as it faces the twofold problems of climate change and pollution. Its honorees included the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Chairman David Archambault, II, Plastic Pollution Coalition, 4Navitas, Polar Adventurer Douglas Stoup and Earth Day Texas CEO Ryan Brown.

As a Kind Charity on the KindTraveler.com, helping to empower the travel community to become defenders of the environment through travel, we were thrilled to join the event as a sponsor and support its efforts in raising consciousness about the planet’s need for a more sustainable future. Kindness Ambassador and host, Rachel Rudwall, interviewed Jeff Bridges, Dianna Cohen of Plastic Pollution Coalition, John Salley, and teen actress Jenna Ortega, on what it means to #TravelKindly.

There are a million reasons that South Africa should be on your travel bucket list – but one of our favorites? It’s ❤️ for social responsibility: “For the country’s top hotels and resorts, local community outreach is a no-brainer, and education is seen as one of the most effective methods toward lasting change.” #TravelKindly
