IMPERMANENT

Three sides should make it stronger
But I can’t hide, I got my doubts
Inside I see it crumbling

I know, there is a beauty in that
We go, and that it ends
So please don’t go on reminding me

Isn’t it enough to be
Isn’t it enough to be
Isn’t it enough to be here

We’ll find home in the stars
Hope in the heart that mends
This is the start and end
We are the impermanent

It’s clear that we don’t see eye to eye
And I fear there’s something wrong
When you’re near I feel I’m crumbling

So let’s stop imagining how it goes
It’s not changing a thing
To have fought against the turning

Isn’t it enough to be
Isn’t it enough to be
Isn’t it enough to be here

We’ll find home in the stars
Hope in the heart that mends
This is the start and end
We are the impermanent

We are the waiting creatures
Holding on to
The words of hopeful teachers
Wondering what is true
All we have is all we know
Today’s just yesterday’s tomorrow
It comes and goes

Home in the stars
Hope in the heart that mends
This is the start and end
We are the impermanent

I've always felt that the act of writing a song was more accurately described as finding a song. At least that's how it feels to me. There's something so special about the first recordings of a song that's still finding itself. Fractions of thoughts, melodies that are still finding their way, words that don't necessarily know what they're trying to say yet. I have folders of hundreds of these little seedlings that never found their way to soil and water and sunlight. While most of these have never, and will never, be heard by anyone in the world other than me, they are still special to me, they still capture part of my life and feelings from some distant moment in time. They are incomplete, imperfect, but incredibly real and vulnerable, and that's what's so special about them.
